Nintendo Wins Infringement Suits

Washington, D.C. -- A federal appeals court has upheld a Nintendo victory
over Fairchild Semiconductor and a separate Federal Judge has dismissed a
suit against Nintendo filed by an inventor, Edward, Gussin.

The Fairchild suit was based on the claim that the electronics used for
selecting games and the loading and locking mechanism for the cartridge
were based on their patent. The Court of Appeals upheld the lower courts
ruling that Nintendo's Super NES system did not infringe on their patent.
