NEW MEDIA'S MULTIMEDIA COMBO PROVIDES PORTABLE USERS WITH ONE-SLOT
MULTIMEDIA FUNCTIONALITY

Industry's First Simultaneous Multi-Function Card to Combine SCSI Adapter
with 16-Bit Sound

LAS VEGAS, November 14, 1994 -- New Media Corporation, a leading developer
and manufacturer of portable computing solutions, today introduced the
Multimedia Combo, the first PCMCIA card to simultaneously perform two
multimedia functions. Demonstrated today at COMDEX/Fall, New Media's
Multimedia Combo combines a high-speed PCMCIA to SCSI adapter with a
16-bit PCMCIA sound card for one-slot portable multimedia applications.

The Multimedia Combo unites into one elegant design two of New Media's most
highly-acclaimed PCMCIA cards: the BusToaster PCMCIA to SCSI adapter and
.WAVjammer PCMCIA, 16-bit sound card. With this product introduction, New
Media demonstrates its commitment to providing the portable computer
marketplace with leading edge multimedia solutions.

The Multimedia Combo has been designed to provide users with on-the-road
sound features, including CD-quality audio, record and play back, and the
ability to connect to SCSI devices. The one-slot card provides users with
concurrent functionality, enabling them to operate SCSI peripherals while
simultaneously recording or playing 16-bit stereo sound. The Multimedia
Combo addresses the needs of users with just one PCMCIA slot on their
portable computer, or for those who prefer to reserve a second PCMCIA slot
for a modem or LAN adapter.

According to Carl Perkins, New Media's president, the challenge in
combining these two functions was to maintain high performance SCSI speed
while achieving real-time continuous audio. "By employing New Media's true
plug-and-play client driver technology we support full-rate simultaneous
data transfer across the SCSI bus and audio channels without any
interruption in the audio data stream or degradation in SCSI performance.
Additionally, the Multimedia Combo card has an ultra-low noise floor
maintaining CD quality sound in the presence of high-speed SCSI
transfers."

Perkins added that this introduction marks another first for the
two-year-old portable computer solutions provider. "While competing PCMCIA
card companies are struggling just to ship their sound cards, we've
already taken the next step," he said.

True Plug-and-Play

As with all of New Media's PCMCIA cards and portable computing solutions,
the Multimedia Combo card provides users with true PCMCIA plug-and-play as
well as universal compatibility across the wide range of portable
computing platforms currently available. This insures that users have the
ability to freely exchange, remove and/or insert the Multimedia Combo into
and out of any mobile platform without the need to reconfigure or reboot
their systems.

The card not only meets today's requirements for true plug-and-play
functionality, but also meets the demands of users for low-powered l/O
devices and adapters. New Media's Multimedia Combo is power-efficient,
drawing only 270mA (milliamps) of current during full-rate SCSI transfers
and audio play or record.

Sound Features

The Multimedia Combo records and plays back 16-bit stereo sound with
sampling rates as high as 44.1KHz. It records and plays back .WAV files,
provides .SND, MIDI, .AVI, .AIF .VOC, and .RMI play capabilities and .WAV
mixing. Using the OPL-3 chip, users can utilize the card for analog and
digital sound mixing with 20 voice FM synthesis. Microsoft Sound System
software is included; AIL, HMI and Adlib are also supported. The
Multimedia Combo is Microsoft Windows and Multimedia PC (MPC) compatible,
supporting Microsoft's Voice Pilot and Proof Reader applications.

SCSI Features

The Multimedia Combo card's PCMCIA to SCSI capability allows users to
connect portable computers to peripherals such as CD-ROMs, hard drives,
printers, scanners and optical drives. It produces burst data rates of
10MB per second. CorelSCSI software is included to provide compatibility
across virtually all SCSI peripherals. Up to seven SCSI devices can be
easily interconnected or daisy-chained.

Pricing and Availability

The Multimedia Combo is available November 15 through the company's
nationwide network of distributors as well as select retail computer
stores. Suggested retail pricing for the Multimedia Combo is $499. As with
all New Media products, the Multimedia Combo is backed by a lifetime
warranty and is FCC Class B certified for both home and office use.
