REED MIDEM ORGANISATION announces the launch of the Milia D'or - The Milia
Awards, in partnership with HAVAS and New Line Cinema along with support
of the Syndicat National de I'Edition (SNE)

Paris, October 26th, 1994, MILIA '95, the International Publishing and New
Media Market is pleased to announce the first edition of the MILIA D'OR.
These awards will recognize outstanding achievement in multimedia
publishing among MILIA participants for works published and released in
1994 and combining audio, video, text and graphics on CD-based media.

"Because creative vision is an essential part of the continuing growth and
evolution of international multimedia publishing and because MILIA is the
international cross-roads for the creative development of multimedia
titles and projects, we felt that we owed it to our professionals to
honour their talent" explains Xavier Roy, CEO of REED MIDEM Organisation.

The Grand Prize will honour the year's most extraordinary title according
to such criteria as interactivity, interface design, visual and audio
design, creativity and overall originality. Other awards will be given to
the best multimedia titles selected in each of 8 categories: Games,
Children, Education, Art and Culture, Science and Nature, Reference,
Self-Help and How-to, Professional.

The Grand Jury will announce award-winners on January 15, 1995 during a
presentation ceremony at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes. This gala
event will be one of the highlights of MILIA '95.

A distinguished Pre-Selection Committee of international multimedia
professionals and journalists will nominate 3 titles per category for the
finallist rounds. Among the members of this pre-selection committee are:
John Battelle (Wired Magazine, USA), Kerstin Hallert (Resume, Sweden),
Jacqueline Hess (National Demonstration Laboratory for New Technologies,
USA), Louis Lecomte (Encyclopedia Universalis, France), Piero Marengo
(UTET, Italy), Patrick Robin (CD Media, France), Julie Schwerin (Infotech,
USA), Henry Steinhau (Screen Multimedia, Germany), Michael Wegner
(Brockhaus, Germany), David Worlock (Electronic Publishing Services, UK).

The deadline for submissions for the MILIA D'OR is November 30th, 1994.
