HyperView version 1.04 Has Been Released

HyperView is a file viewer with special functions for isolating and
extracting information from word processing and text files. As a file
viewer, HyperView automatically reads and recognizes both ASCII text files
and the following word processing formats: Ami Pro, DeScribe, Microsoft
Word for Windows, and WordPerfect.

HyperView contains special features to let you focus quickly on pertinent
information. Lines of text may be isolated either (1) automatically, by
searching and tagging all lines containing a word or phrase, and/or (2)
manually, with the space bar. In full screen view, all text is displayed.
Condensed view is restricted to tagged lines. Split screen view displays
the condensed view in the upper screen, with the currently highlighted
line shown in context below. Lines of text may be added to or removed from
the condensed view without limitation.

All this power is packed in a program that is smaller than 35K. Thus,
HyperView is suitable not only as a free standing program, but also as an
add-on to your favorite file manager or for those instances when you must
boot from a floppy.

HyperView is blazingly fast and is as simple to use as a traditional file
viewer.

These are some of HyperView's features:

o Automatically recognizes and reads popular word processing formats,
including: Ami Pro, DeScribe (versions 2 through 5.0), Microsoft
Word for Windows (versions 1.x, 2.0, and 6.0) and WordPerfect
  (versions 5.x and 6.0).
o Tag and untag lines of text (a) automatically, from the search
dialog, and (b) manually, by pressing the space bar.
o View files in full screen, condensed, or split screen views.
o Loads files almost instantaneously.
o Blazingly fast searches.
o Tagged lines may be copied or appended to the OS/2 clipboard or to a
  file.
o All or part of a file may be gathered and copied or appended to the
OS/2 clipboard or to a file.
o Takes full advantage of the 32-bit OS/2 operating system.
o Directory listing to pick file for viewing and to navigate file
  system.
o Adjustable right margin for stripped ASCII and word processing
  files.
o Searches may cross line boundaries when working with word processing
  and stripped ASCII files.
o May be started from the OS/2 DOS command line or a DOS program
running in an OS/2 DOS session (VDM).
o Supports long file names on HPFS drives.
o Case insensitive searches may be performed in any language.
o Commands may be invoked without the use of shifted keystrokes.
o Perfect for reading files when you must boot off a floppy or when
you run OS/2 without Presentation Manager.

The principal enhancements in version 1.04 relate to performance and the
user interface. In the performance arena, searches are faster than ever.
Even on slower machines and with very large files, all searches will be
virtually instantaneous.

Improvements to the user interface include the following. Text gathering
operations (similar to selecting text in a word processor), may be
initiated by holding down the shift key and pressing one of the cursor
keys. Gathered text and tagged lines may be appended to the OS/2 clipboard
(the current clipboard contents are preserved and the new text is added to
the end). When saving gathered text or tagged lines to a file, there is
now a choice to overwrite an existing file or to append the new text to
the end of an existing file. Pressing the backslash key takes you directly
to the directory of the current file, positioning the cursor bar on the
current file. HyperView is now also furnished with a scroll bar, providing
a visual representation of your position in a file.

HyperView is distributed as user-supported software. The registration fee
is $35(US) for individuals. Quantity pricing is available.

HyperView may be found on the OS/2 Shareware BBS (703-385-4325) where it is
entitled HV104.ZIP. It is also available on CompuServe in library 1 of the
OS2BVEN forum (also known as OS2SHARE). On CompuServe the most current
version is always known as HV.ZIP.
