HUMAN MACHINE INTERFACES, INC. ANNOUNCES SOUND OPERATING SYSTEM FOR
WINDOWS

New Windows 3.1 Audio Development System Gives Software Developers The
Ability To Produce Superior Sound In Their Multimedia Titles.

Eugene, OR., November 7, 1994 -- Human Machine Interfaces, Inc. today
announced Sound Operating System for Windows, the company's latest
addition to its line of pace setting audio development products.
Incorporating much of the technology found in the MS-DOS version, Sound
Operating System for Windows provides software developers with a
standardized audio development platform for the Windows environment.

Sound Operating System makes it possible for applications to play up-to 32
digitized sounds simultaneously. In addition, the application may also
alter the pitch, volume and pan position of digital sounds to provide
highly realistic audio for multimedia titles.

The MIDI capabilities of the Sound Operating System include the ability to
repeat individual sections of a song and conditionally branch to different
locations in a song, allowing the creation of truly interactive music. For
example, if the mood of a game should become one of increasing action, the
application can alter the music on-the-fly to reflect that change, giving
it a more cinematic quality.

"The ever increasing demand for this audio technology will continue to rise
in the months ahead as more of the entertainment software development
community migrates toward the Windows operating environment", said Nick
Skrepetos, HMI's President and founder, "HMI's cutting edge technology has
raised PC audio to a more realistic level. We already know that sound is
equally as important as graphics and interface in multimedia applications.
Developers seeking to satisfy consumer demand for high quality audio will
be the driving force in the success of this product.

Human Machine Interfaces' audio technology will appear in over 50 of the
top entertainment software titles this upcoming Holiday Season from such
companies as: Access Software, Accolade, Bullfrog, Compton's NewMedia,
Dynamix, Gametek, Interplay, Origin Systems, Papyrus Design Group, Silicon
Knights, Spectrum Holobyte, Virgin Interactive Entertainment, Westwood
Studios and many more.
