J&L Announces ChatExpress the First 90 Mhz Pentium Network Resource Server

The first 90 Mhz Pentium based Network Communications Server for the remote
applications market

Chatsworth. CA., October 17th. 1994 -- J&L Information Systems a division
of Astro Sciences Corporation, a leading manufacturer of Network resource
servers, today announced the introduction of ChatExpress/Pentium-90 the
latest in their ChatterBox family of communications servers. "The
ChatExpress/Pentium-90 has been designed from the beginning to utilize all
the power of the Pentium processor yet still deliver J&L' s no tools
needed, hot swappable and upgradeable design concept" said Rex Jackson
Senior Vice President. He went on, "With the new Pentium-90 there are now
few limits to the kinds of applications that can be utilized in a network
environment". This includes not only remote access, but the full range of
server needs including main file servers, SQL servers, mail servers, fax
servers and many more. The ChatExpress/Pentium-90 comes with an Intel
Pentium-735/90 and has 256 KB second level write back cache. The
ChatExpress/Pentium-90 is equipped with a 296-pin Zero Insertion Force
(ZIF) socket to provide users with Intel's' Level 5 OverDrive performance
upgrade path, beyond existing Pentium processor performance. Although the
basic ChatExpress/Pentium-90 will be delivered with 8 MB of DRAM, it has
been designed to support up to 512 MB of DRAM.

ChatExpress/Pentium-90 offers a wide range of I/O capabilities including
two COM ports, one parallel port, and a local bus IDE (Fast Mode 3). Also
included are one PCI slots and one ISA expansion slot, or an optional two
ISA expansion slots, on the processor assembly The PCI expansion slots
accept PCI master cards, and fully support the PCI specification.

Up to seven ChatExpress/Pentium-90 can be installed in J&L's standard
ChatterBox/NRS 19" rack and five fit into the newly released ChatterBox
NRS/T10. As with all of J&L's E-Z Swap processing units, the
ChatExpress/Pentium-90 supports electronically switched and shareable
video, keyboard, floppy disk drive and a shared mouse. Although the slot
width of the ChatExpress/Pentium-90 is only 2.40" wide both a floppy disk
and hard drive can be installed. All of J&L's remote communications
capabilities are incorporated in the ChatExpress/Pentium-90 including
J&Ls' patented 'Phone Busy' and 'Remote Hardware Reset' which insures
fail-safe remote communications over dial-up circuits and lease line
connections.

Pricing for the ChatExpress/Pentium-90 begins at $4,695.00 for a 90 Mhz
Pentium with 8MB memory and 256 KB cache. Availability will be early
fourth quarter 1994
