NEW MEDIA DEBUTS ALL-IN-ONE PLUG-AND-PLAY PORTABLE MULTIMEDIA SOLUTION

Streamlined Package Includes CD-ROM Drive, Dual Stereo Speakers,
Microphone, 16-Bit Stereo Sound Card and Award-Winning Sound System from
Altec Lansing

LAS VEGAS, November 14, 1994 -- New Media Corporation, a leading developer
and manufacturer of portable computing solutions, today at Comdex/Fall,
previewed the CD Sound Studio, a portable multimedia peripheral combining
all of the components for on-the-go multimedia into one streamlined
package.

Features include a double-speed CD-ROM drive, built-in microphone 16-bit
stereo sound card, dual stereo speakers along with an integrated
award-winning sound system from Altec Lansing. The CD Sound Studio is the
only PCMCIA-based portable multimedia peripheral to provide users with
100% compatibility across the full range of laptops and subnotebook
computers available today.

New Media developed the CD Sound Studio due to the demand for a
comprehensive mobile, multimedia solution. "Portable computer users expect
the same capabilities on their laptops that they have with desktop
computers. This includes the ability to create and display multimedia
presentations as well as run CD-ROMs to access art and photo clips or to
play audio CDs," explained Carl Perkins, New Media's president.

Perkins added that until now, mobile users were forced to give up either
high-performance computing power, high-fidelity sound, or high-quality
video in their attempts to tap into the multimedia craze. "With the CD
Sound Studio, full-fledged multimedia power is at the mobile user's
fingertips," he said.

Features Surpass Currently Available Alternatives

Until the introduction of the CD Sound Studio, the alternatives currently
available to users looking for on-the-go multimedia included purchasing a
brand new multimedia laptop or taking advantage of multimedia docking
stations. Purchasing a multimedia-equipped laptop is an expensive
proposition with machines costing thousands of dollars. Additionally,
users loose the flexibility of sharing the device among multiple users.
Multimedia docking stations, on the other hand, are proprietary, working
only with the system for which they were purchased.

The CD Sound Studio is priced at $799 and includes all of the features
found in the multimedia-equipped desktop computers plus the added benefits
of plug-and-play for ease of use by multiple users. "The CD Sound Studio
gives users the same functionality and superior sound quality over a
multimedia laptop -- at a fraction of the price," said Perkins.

Additionally, because the CD Sound Studio comes with New Media's PCMCIA
true plug-and-play device drivers, it can be used with the full range of
portable computing platforms currently available, providing users with the
means to share CD Sound Studios. New Media's plug-and-play device drivers
allow users to freely exchange, remove and/or insert the CD Sound Studio
into and out of their mobile platforms without the need to reconfigure,
reboot or awaken their systems. This enables companies to purchase CD
Sound Studios instead of replacing existing laptops with multimedia-based
computers.

Incorporates Award-Winning Audio System

The CD Sound Studio incorporates Altec Lansing's award-winning ACS3000
portable multimedia center audio system. The ACS3000 uses proprietary
sound technology, dynamic compensation circuitry and an amplifier system
to provide theater-quality sound.

"The CD Sound Studio delivers a new level of audio quality to a wide
variety of portable multimedia computer users. Up to now, this
high-quality audio reproduction was not available to the portable arena.
We are delighted to have joined with New Media in the development of this
unique product," commented Edward Lansing, Altec Lansing's consumer
products president and chairman.

stand-by mode. It connects to a portable computer's Type II PCMCIA slot
utilizing an 18-inch cable complete with a media access module to connect
to your computer.

As with all New Media products, the CD Sound Studio is FCC Class B
certified for both home and office use.
