ASHWIN BATCH SCHEDULER IS SHOWN ON WINDOWS NT, WINDOWS 95 AND POWERPC AT
COMDEX

AshWin batch scheduler provides mainframe-like unattended, dependent and
repetitive processing 24 hours a day for client/server networks

LAS VEGAS, NV - NOV. 14, 1994 - C I Technologies today announced that its
powerful Microsoft Windows-based batch scheduler AshWin is being
demonstrated for the first time on Windows 95 in the Microsoft Partners in
Innovation booth #L2602 and on the RISC platform in the Motorola PowerPC
Pavilion at Comdex in Las Vegas. The company is also demonstrating
critical new scheduling capabilities, including AshWin as a Windows NT
Service for support of Microsoft BackOffice capabilities and OLE
functionality, which allows "drag and drop" of objects from one
application to another.

AshWin provides mainframe-like automated batch processing for the
client/server environment, enabling unattended, repetitive, dependent and
background scheduling. AshWin generates significant MIS equipment and
staffing cost savings. It maximizes use of all microprocessing power (24
hours a day) across any Windows-based TCP/IP or NetWare network. In most
cases, AshWin eliminates the need to purchase additional workstations to
handle time-intensive processing. Any Windows or MS-DOS application can be
scheduled to run unattended to reduce human error and eliminate the need
for off-hours staffing.

"AshWin is a key Microsoft BackOffice network management tool and with its
new Windows NT Service option, we don't require that a user be logged onto
the network for jobs to be run and completed overnight," says Robbie
Hardy, C I Technologies president. "By running AshWin in Windows NT
Service mode, all AshWin activities remain invisible to the desktop, which
facilitates background processing and maximized use of all available
microprocessing power. It also prevents unauthorized access to user files
during off-hours."

"Users of Microsoft Windows looking for Microsoft BackOffice tools will be
very interested in the newest version of AshWin. As applications are
converted from mainframe to Windows systems, network administrators need a
scheduling tool that has similar capabilities to the mainframe tools they
have used. AshWin is an ideal Microsoft BackOffice batch scheduler for MIS
organizations of any size," notes David Berry, Microsoft product manager
for systems management business development.

"We are excited to see leading ISVs such as C I Technologies running their
applications on PowerPC systems," said Anne-Marie Larkin, vice president
and director of RISC software, Motorola RISC Microprocessor Division. "Our
partnership with C I Technologies facilitated its ability to quickly bring
AshWin's mainframe-like batch scheduling capabilities to the RISC
platform, which is yet another example of our commitment to the ISV
community."

AshWin's modular structure of four components - APS (a scheduling engine),
Sentinel (communication tool), Administrator (for assigning security and
APS machine/user lists) and Monitor (creating, monitoring and editing
Schedules locally and remotely) - provides tremendous flexibility for any
information processing environment. AshWin is well suited for use in both
client/server and peer-to-peer systems for a wide range of workgroup to
Enterprise-level environments.

AshWin features and benefits:

* Unattended batch, sequential, repetitive, distributed and background
  (parallel) processing.
* Maximizes use of existing PC computing power--eliminating the need
  for additional costly workstation purchases.
* Overnight or off-hours processing without human intervention -
eliminating the need for off-hour staffing.
* Schedules any existing Windows- or MS-DOS-based application For even
greater control features, custom AshWin Agents can be written
quickly and easily with the AshWin SDK.
* In Windows NT Service mode AshWin remains in the background so it
can schedule and process applications with out a user logging onto
  the network.
* Offers OLE "drag and drop" capabilities for linking or embedding
objects from one application to another.
* Supports ODBC for use with all popular database programs.
* Load balancing allows the network manager to utilize available
computing power more effectively and evenly.
* Security features limit other user's access so only approved
personnel can launch or change a schedule.
* Return codes provide sophisticated feedback for accurate assessment
of job reliability and error checking.
* Custom AshWin Agents created with the AshWin SDK offer even greater
control and management capabilities, such as allowing a job to be
paused and restarted at any point in the process.
* Supports Windows, Windows for Workgroups, Windows NT Workstation
and Windows 95 operating systems on TCP/IP or NetWare protocols.
