Superscape VR Software Used to Sell Sophisticated Health Care Equipment

PALO ALTO, CA, November 29, 1994 -- Superscape Inc., a leading developer of
virtual reality (VR) software, today announced that AMSCO International,
Inc., a supplier of hospital decontamination and surgical equipment, and
Summit Graphics Inc., a 3D animation and VR developer, have designed and
implemented a VR-based application for technical design presentation. The
application allows AMSCO sales people to graphically present layouts of
health care equipment in real-time to potential customers. The system is
based on Superscape Inc.'s Superscape VRT and Visualizer software and runs
on standard Intel 486-based laptop computers.

The announcement was made at MecklerMedia's New York Virtual Reality Expo,
November 29-December 1, at the New York Hilton and Towers.

"Real-time VR allows the presentation to be shaped to the customer's
interests instantly. If the customer needs more time to grasp a particular
concept, or needs to see how proposed changes might affect the design, the
presentation can instantly be changed to accommodate these needs," said
Gerald O'Connor, Summit Graphics Inc. "The interactive nature of VR
allows the design to be altered and tested in real-time with the customer
present."

"It was determined early on that a VR application would be an integral part
of the presentation strategy," said William Ryden, vice president,
systems, AMSCO International, Inc. "The goal of this application is to
provide a real-time 3D tool that can be used by the sales staff as well as
the systems designers, and can be taken directly to the customer anywhere
in the world. Our objective is to allow the customer to better visualize
the design and ultimately shorten the decision making process."

The AMSCO sales application was created with Superscape's VRT development
software. Superscape met a variety of criteria necessary for the project.
For instance, the system had to be portable and compatible with a variety
of existing hardware, and had to operate without specialized hardware.
While most DOS-based VR development software requires an accelerated
graphics card, Superscape software runs on any VESA-compatible graphics
card and provides resolutions up to 1280 x 1024. Other criteria for the
development platform included the availability of a low cost run-time
license; a fully customized interface; the ability to read and write DXF
file formats; the ability to interact with and control objects in the
world; and the ability to create and save new worlds with the run-time
license.
