The Explosive Growth Rate of Home Based Businesses Prompts Introduction of
New Books and Videos. . .

Mpls., Mn... Home based businesses are starting up at a record pace
according to a study made by the American Institute of Small Business. In
addition, it appears that this trend will continue into the foreseeable
future as the nation's Fortune 500 Companies continue to reduce their work
force through restructuring, or as a result of mergers and acquisitions.

Max Fallek, Director of the Institute, stated, in announcing the study,:
"That the initial impetus for the growth of home based businesses began as
the country went through the early 1990's recession. Unlike other
recessions, where "blue collar" workers were primarily affected, this
recession touched Middle and Upper Management as well as "white collar"
personnel where tens of thousands were displaced. Since it included all
companies in an industry, these management people were unable to move to
another company in the same field. Thus, they were left with three
choices: moving to a new industry, changing careers, or, setting up their
own business. As a result of the computer and electronic age and, with the
growth of tele-communications, setting up a home-based business has become
most attractive and the growth of these businesses continues at a record
pace."

Because of this growth, the American Institute of Small Business has just
published two new videos on home based-businesses. These videos include:
Getting Started-Your Own Business and Setting Up a Home Based Business.
Getting Started covers the legal and business aspects of establishing a
home based business including financing, writing one's business plan,
marketing and choosing the right legal form for one's business. Setting Up
a Home Based Business discusses how to organize the home business office,
time management, necessary equipment including tele-communications and how
to compete successfully against non-home based businesses. Each video
sells for $69.95.

In addition, the Institute announces it's new book How to Set Up Your Own
Small Business which covers every aspect of setting up and operating a
home-based business. The two volume set sells for $99.95. Some of the
chapters include selling, advertising, public relations, bookkeeping,
accounting, legal aspects, market research, writing a business plan and
financing.
