Sanctuary Woods Announces WordStuff

Fun, Bilingual Interactive Picture Dictionary For Pre-Readers

SAN MATEO, Calif., October 20, 1994--Sanctuary Woods Multimedia Inc.
(NASDAQ: SWMCF; VSE: SWD.V) introduces WordStuff; the newest addition to
its I-learn Library of CD-ROM titles that engage and entertain while
fulfilling underlying educational objectives. Created for children ages 3
to 6, WordStuff is a highly animated interactive picture dictionary in
English and Spanish that gives pre-readers a head start on vocabulary and
reading.

"WordStuff provides a fun and effective environment for kids to explore
vocabulary," said Renee Courington, vice president of Sanctuary Woods'
education division. "We've taken the traditional picture book and expanded
on it with animation, sound, music, printing and recording--multimedia
content that brings to life words and clarifies concepts, such as light
and heavy, that are difficult to convey on paper."

Courington added, "As with all Sanctuary Woods educational products, the
philosophy behind WordStuff is to use leading-edge multimedia technology
to support proven educational concepts and help kids learn important
skills at their own pace in a fun, engaging way."

In WordStuff, children learn more than 700 essential nouns and verbs and
practice early sentence-building while discovering wacky animations and
crazy sounds; recording their own voices; and creating and printing their
own word and sentence coloring books. WordStuff includes four
action-packed environments--Spring on the Farm, Weekend at Camp, Games at
the Fair, and Fun in the Snow.

Kids can explore environments in three different ways: in I-SPY, I-PLAY,
and I-SING modes. Each mode, playable in English or Spanish, allows
children to build their vocabulary and understanding of new word concepts
while expanding upon the learning in prior modes.

* In the I-SPY mode, crazy arrows and noisy circles highlight a variety of
new nouns. Children can click on a word to hear it pronounced, or they can
use the microphone to practice and play back their own pronunciation.

* In the I-PLAY mode, difficult-to-understand concepts, such as opposites
(light/heavy) and action words (sing, grow), are brought to life through
zany animation and sounds. For example, animated characters demonstrate
opposite words, such as "hit" and "miss," by throwing snowballs at a soda
can. Kids can hear the differences between words such as "snort," "whinny"
and "squeal" by clicking on an animated horse.

* In the I-SING mode, music rounds out the language-learning process--and
makes it fun. I-SING presents popular folk songs with rewritten lyrics
incorporating WordStuff's new vocabulary. Kids can listen to or sing along
with one of four traditional folk songs. The English version includes
"Jingle Bells," "Skip to My Lou" and "She'll Be Coming 'Round the
Mountain." The Spanish version features "Sol, Solecito" and "En la
Feria."

Printing, Recording

Like all of Sanctuary Woods I-learn products, WordStuff offers recording
and printing capabilities in each mode, allowing children to record
themselves speaking different words or singing along to the songs and to
print out activities for off-computer fun. For example, kids can create
and print out coloring books with more than 150 words and sentences. These
multimedia features help kids have fun even as they learn. WordStuff's
accompanying sheet music, flash cards and other off-computer activities
reinforce the program's concepts and vocabulary and provide for better
transference of learning from the computer to the child's everyday life.
