TOGETHER/C++ --- Object Models and C++ Code, Always In-Sync

"Object Intl. Announces New Single-User Version"

OOPSLA '94. Portland, Oregon (Tuesday, October 25, 1994). Today, Object
Intl. announced a new single-user, entry-level version of Together/C++.

Together/C++ is the automated development tool that supports continuously
up-to-date object modeling and C++ programming, now used by developers
worldwide.

The new product line consists of Together/C++ (the entry level product) and
Together/C++ Team (with multi-user version control and fully-customizable
documentation generation). The entry-level product is aimed at developers
and companies who want to apply Together/C++ on a pilot project, before
committing to use it on a large scale.

Together/C++ represents a new generation of object-oriented modeling and
programming tools. Previous tools generate code frames only, in one
direction (called "one-way tools"). In contrast, Together/C++ is a
"two-way tool." Developers may work with an object model or C++ code, back
and forth, again and again; the tool automatically keeps them up-to-date
with each other. Reverse engineering is fully integrated in the product;
developers can add whatever class libraries they want to, and the tool
will update its object model, automatically.

* Quotable Quotes *

"The ability to change either code or diagram and have the changes
reflected in the other is a clear advantage...and the ability to import
existing source code into the tool and have Together/C++ create a visual
map of the library is invaluable." David Moskowitz, Productivity
Solutions

"You've really hit the nail on the head when it comes to re-engineering
existing C++ code. No other tool comes close to the power and capability
of Together/C++." Russell Rudduck, Perot Systems

"Together/C++ is the kind of product opening completely new possibilities
for programming." Michael Inglot, Electrohome

Peter Coad, object evangelist and author, put it this way: "You can edit
graphics, and see the result immediately in text (C++ code). Or you can
edit the text (C++ code), press a button, and immediately see the result
in the graphics. Two-way tools are essential for delivering frequent,
tangible, working results. Together/C++ is the first and only tool to
provide such two-way capabilities for C++ development."

* Key Features *

- Object modeling and C++ programming environment. Developers may edit in
an object modeling, window or in a C++ programming window, side-by-side;
Together/C++ keeps the two continuously up-to-date with each other.

- Layout of object models. Automatic, semi-automatic, and manual layout of
object models allows existing class-libraries to be read in and a
meaningful object model immediately displayed.

- Object model view management. Includes many selections for view
management, controlling what elements are included in a given view.

- Full C++ parser. Syntax problems are caught immediately; once corrected,
the object model updates automatically.

- Documentation generation. Extracts information from source files
(including user-defined fields) for comprehensive maintenance
documentation (including both text and diagrams). Together/C++ Team adds a
scripted documentation language, for custom documentation generation.

- Multi-user version control. Includes version names, delta comments,
visual differences, and a project-and-file log. A feature of Together/C++
Team.
