SYSTRAN Corp. Introduces New Line of General-Purpose I/O Products

Dayton, Ohio, October 11, 1994 - SYSTRAN Corp., developer of the SCRAMNet
Network (a real-time replicated shared-memory system), today announced its
new line of I/O products -- SYSTRAN's I/O Solutions. This new product line
consists of a full spectrum of general-purpose and special-application I/O
interfaces based on the IndustryPack (IPack) Logic Interface Specification
Revision 0.7.1. These high-density mezzanine boards are approximately the
size of a business card. They enable designers to specify and implement
solutions with a greater level of flexibility than the traditional
host-based I/O boards. The small form factor, low power requirements, and
basic IPack features make them ideal for many applications including data
acquisition, instrumentation, and process control. Following are
highlights of the initial offering:

* TRIDO48

The TRIDO48 is a 48-channel, tri-stateable digital output IPack board. It
features: six individually tri-stateable byte-wide ports for external
busing applications; TTL-compatible port drivers with source and sink
ratings per channel of -15mA/64mA, respectively; board-level hardware
handshake control; a user-configuration switch for defining power-up
default selections; and pin-out which matches common digital I/O cards for
peripheral compatibility.

* RELAY16

RELAY16, the highest density IPack relay card available to date, is a
16-channel relay IPack board that allows users to independently activate
up to 16 electromechanical relays (switches). It features SPDT ("single
pole double throw," or "form C") contacts, each with group read/write
access capability. The contact ratings are: 30W, 62VA switching power;
110VDC, 125VAC switching voltage; 10 uA @ 10mVDC minimum to 1A maximum
switching capability; and 3mS maximum attack and release times (excluding
contact bounce). The relays are UL/CSA-rated and have good shock and
vibration resistance specifications.

* DIO316I

The DIO316I is a 48-channel, tristateable digital I/O IPack board. It
offers users the basic functionality to configure 32 outputs/16 inputs, 16
outputs/32 inputs, or 24 outputs/24 inputs for I/O busing applications.
Features include: two bi-directional 8-bit ports, two 8-bit output ports,
and two 8-bit input ports; bi-directional and output ports with low/high
impedance states via software control; a generic interrupt engine that is
fully maskable and definable; high-power TTL-compatible port drivers with
source and sink ratings per channel of -15mA/64mA, respectively; and
pin-out which matches common digital I/O cards for peripheral
compatibility.

* LOW40

The LOW40 is a 40-channel discrete output IPack board that supplies users
with 8 channels of high-voltage, high-current, low-side (open collector)
drivers per byte-lane, and an on-board temperature sensor, providing +
10mV/degrees F output. It features: minimum breakdown voltage ratings of
80V (50V sustaining) @ up to 500mA per channel, per-byte emitter common,
transient diode cathode common, and software controlled output enabling
capabilities.

* IPack Tool Kits

The IPack Tool Kits are a series of Logic Bus Extenders, a Breakout Board,
a Monitor Board (for HP Analyzers), and ribbon cables that can be combined
in many configurations to provide users with a complete, user-friendly
IPack system analysis and integration tool kit. The Logic Bus Extender is
similar to an IPack board with an extra connector at one end for physical
access to the IPack Logic Bus, and can be used stand-alone or in
conjunction with other SYSTRAN IPack products. The Breakout Board provides
physical access to IPack Logic Bus signals via a 50-pin ribbon cable from
a Logic Bus Extender. The Monitor Board allows physical interfacing of
IPack Logic Bus signals to HP Logic Analyzers (models 1650 and 16500) via
a 50-pin ribbon cable and a Logic Bus Extender.

SYSTRAN's I/O Solutions carry a one year warranty, and are currently
available with prices starting at $225. SYSTRAN also offers comprehensive
I/O design services to customize SYSTRAN's products for specific l/O
requirements.
