SUMMON - The Power of the Network

Cupertino CA., October 28, 1994 -- At a demonstration to customers, venture
capitalists, and industry analysts ||parallel|| unveiled its vision of a
distributed computing future. On show was SUMMON - a workgroup extension
to Microsoft's Excel spreadsheet.

SUMMON lets users build a live data model that is automatically distributed
across a network of computers and can be accessed enterprise-wide. The
SUMMON data model is a hierarchy of users, dynamic spreadsheets, and
real-time flows of information. These are brought together into a single,
unified, data model.

"Building a SUMMON distributed data model is as easy as building a
Microsoft Excel application." said Dr. Steven Ericsson Zenith, CEO of
||parallel||. "However, unlike conventional spreadsheet applications the
storage and execution of the data model are automatically distributed
across the network - treating the available computers as a single
computing resource."

"SUMMON integrates users with flows of data from financial ticker thru
Point-of-Sale to SQL query."

"SUMMON is perhaps the ultimate extension of the spreadsheet." adds Andrea
Skov, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at ||parallel||. "You use
standard formulas, Visual Basic and the SUMMON hierarchy editor to
incrementally build a data model that represents your enterprise. You
don't have to worry about where to put your data or how to partition your
application - SUMMON takes care of all of that. This means you do not
program at the low level - a CPA with little programming experience can
build a SUMMON distributed application."

Applications of SUMMON include financial systems that manage and analyze
data from many sources.

"The technology is truely scaleable." Dr. Ericsson-Zenith further added.
"As capacity demands increase additional computers can be added into the
network and seamlessly integrated by SUMMON. You can roll in a large
parallel server and the only noticeable effect to users will be the
increased capacity of the whole."

The product will be generally available in the first quarter of next year.
Pricing is available on request. SUMMON supports Windows 95, Windows/NT,
OS/2, UNIX (server only), Windows-for-Workgroups (client only), and
Macintosh platforms that support the internet protocol TCP/IP.

||parallel|| is a start-up company founded in April 1994 by Dr. Steven
Ericsson-Zenith.
