MeteoQuest Releases New CD-ROM Sourcebook

BEDFORD, NH (October 6, 1994) Jimmie Smith, President of MeteoQuest, Inc.,
announced today that MeteoQuest's new CD-ROM directory, entitled "CD-ROM
Sourcebook for the Atmospheric, Oceanic, Earth, and Space Sciences", has
been released and is being shipped to customers. The MeteoQuest CD-ROM
Sourcebook is the first commercial directory to contain information about
CD-ROMs involved in these four specific disciplines.

Mr. Smith, in announcing the release of the new publication, stressed the
importance of a comprehensive directory at this time. "When we began our
initial search for CD-ROM titles involved in the specific disciplines of
interest, we were surprised at the number of companies and government
agencies that are getting involved with publishing data and information on
CD-ROMs. The number of CD-ROM titles and the number of organizations
involved is growing very rapidly. CD-ROM is a tremendous medium for
distributing atmospheric and geoscience data," said Mr. Smith. "The
MeteoQuest CD-ROM Sourcebook is a tool to assist in the management of this
rapidly developing convergence of information and technology."

The MeteoQuest CD-ROM Sourcebook contains detailed information describing
more than 300 CD-ROMs published by more than 70 government agencies,
educational institutions, and commercial firms. Information was collected
from these publishers as well as from distributors and original content
providers. Information about each CD-ROM is condensed from original
product literature and other reference material provided by the CD-ROM
publisher, distributor, and content provider and included in the form of
an abstract. Extensive efforts were expended to ensure that the
information for each CD-ROM product is accurate and current.

CD-ROMs listed in the MeteoQuest CD-ROM Sourcebook are diverse in both
content and format. In terms of content, the information and data range
from the depths of the earth to outer space. Virtually any type of data or
information needed for engineering, research, educational and business
purposes is available on the many CD-ROMs listed in the MeteoQuest CD-ROM
Sourcebook. The formats of the various data sets vary considerably and
consist of imagery, tables, graphs, charts, and maps as well as the basic
digital data. For each CD-ROM, the MeteoQuest CD-ROM Sourcebook contains a
description of the data sets including the type of data or information,
the format, the source of the content, associated software, appropriate
references, the originator of the content, the publisher, and the
distributor. A section of the MeteoQuest CD-ROM Sourcebook contains the
names and addresses of the companies and agencies responsible for
distributing the CD-ROMs listed in the Sourcebook.

Distribution of the MeteoQuest CD-ROM Sourcebook will be international and
will include engineers, climatologists, educators, land planners,
oceanographers, astronomers, wildlife managers, meteorologists,
geologists, multimedia developers, soil scientists, geographers,
hydrologists, research scientists, socio-economic planners and analysts,
and many others that are involved in water resources, aquaculture,
environmental research, forestry, natural resources, power generation and
distribution, insurance, agriculture, environmental protection,
investment, education, research and development, product development,
transportation, construction, waste management, government at all levels,
and numerous other activities.
