SKYLINE NETWORK TRAFFIC ARCHIVING AND ANALYSIS PROGRAM SHIPS

Mac-based Tool Offers Enterprise-wide Tracking of Network Use and Health

Walnut Creek, CA--October 24, 1994--The AG Group today announced the
immediate availability of Skyline, a Macintosh-based program which allows
network managers to archive and analyze network traffic patterns over
time. Skyline is comprised of two applications: "Skyline," a centralized,
graphical interface for analysis of network traffic and "Satellite", a
data collection application which can be run on the local computer or on
remote Macintosh nodes.

Together, these applications create a centralized system for analyzing
network utilization in real time or using archived data. With a broad,
rich set of display, reporting and alert options, Skyline with one or more
Satellites identifies precursors to network problems, pinpoints
configuration bottlenecks, tracks peak traffic times and loads, and alerts
network managers to aberrant network conditions. Skyline and Satellite are
software-only solutions and require no special hardware.

Product Summary

Skyline is the central console from which the network manager can view LAN
and WAN statistics provided by any number of Satellites, which run in the
background capturing, indexing and storing data for days, weeks or months.
After communicating with a Satellite, Skyline can display details about
network utilization, byte counts and packet counts with point-and-click
simplicity. The network manager can control the size of time slices in the
display, from one minute to several days per slice. Each time slice can
then be analyzed further to discover which nodes were using the network,
how much they were using it, and for what purpose. Skyline also includes
alert mechanisms for both high and low threshold violations. Alert options
include a dialog box, sound, or message via alphanumeric pager. Finally,
Skyline generates a variety of reports about network activity, which can
be customized for specific questions or situations.

System Requirements, Pricing and Availability

Skyline and Satellite 1.0 are available immediately. They work with any
Macintosh IIcx or higher, including PowerPC-based Macintosh computers.
Both programs require System 7.0 or higher. Satellite requires an Ethernet
interface and currently supports over 50 cards and built-in ports. Please
call The AG Group for a complete list of supported interfaces. Both
LocalTalk and Token-Ring support will be built into future versions of
Satellite.

Skyline is available in both 68K and PowerPC "Native" versions; Satellite
is available in a 68K version only. Both versions of the Skyline
application are included in the Skyline/Satellite package. Skyline and
Satellite are packaged and priced as follows:

Skyline and Satellite are available now and can be purchased through mail
order, AG Group international distributors, software resellers, and
directly from The AG Group. Resellers may purchase skyline from Ingram
Micro (U.S. and Canada only). Service Contracts, which provide a
cost-effective method of obtaining automatic upgrades and updates for 12
or 24 months, are available directly from The AG Group. Site licenses,
developer discounts and educational discounts are available for all AG
Group products.
