New SCRAMNet Interface Board from SYSTRAN Corp. Connects EISA-Based
Computers to Real-Time

Dayton, Ohio, October 24, 1994 - SYSTRAN Corp., developer of the
SCRAMNet-LX Network (a real-time replicated shared-memory system), today
announced the availability of its new SCRAMNet-LX interface for EISA-based
computers. This interface enables designers of real-time systems to take
advantage of the high performance available through EISA-based platforms.
It also offers a cost-effective solution for real-time applications such
as simulation, telemetry, data acquisition, instrumentation & control, and
virtual reality. Features include:

* A custom ASIC chip which reduces the package to a single
  EISA slot.
* 16.7MB/sec of data throughput.
* 250nSec/node transport delay.
* Field/user upgradeable memory modules, up to 8MB.
* Separate interrupts for status and memory interrupt events.
* Event counter/timer with global reset for self-diagnostics,
  network performance measurement, and synchronized global timer
  functions.
* Compatibility & interoperability with existing SCRAMNet nodes.
* Auto-initialization, configurable via EEPROM, minimizing the
  number of hardware switches.
* Coax or fiber optic media options.

The SCRAMNet-LX interface for EISA-based computers is currently available
with prices starting at $3495 per node, depending on configuration.
SCRAMNet support is also available for: VME (3U, 6U, 9U), ISA, Sbus, GIO,
TURBOchannel, Micro Channel, MULTIBUS, Q-bus, UNIBUS, SelBUS, plus a
rehostable node for special requirements.

The SCRAMNet-LX Network is a real-time communication system based on a
replicated, shared-memory concept. SCRAMNet-LX is optimized for the
high-speed transfer of data--150 Mbits/sec--between computers that are all
solving portions of the same real-time problem. Its ring configuration
achieves microsecond application-to-application performance with zero
software overhead.

Located at 4126 Linden Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45432-3068 USA, SYSTRAN Corp.
specializes in real-time systems simulation and defense-related
