RELIA TECHNOLOGIES OFFERS MCAFEE'S ROMSHIELD ON ITS TOKEN RING ADAPTER

-- Relia Ships the First Token Ring Adapter With
RomShield 's Boot-time Virus Protection --

LOS GATOS, CA, October 18, 1994 -- Relia Technologies, Inc., a leading
provider of Ethernet and Token Ring adapters, today announced that the
company is incorporating McAfee's (NASDAQ: MCAF) RomShield on the Relia
RT3111 Token Ring adapter. The adapter is the first Token Ring card to
contain this anti-virus software on the Boot ROM, providing automatic
boot-time virus protection at the workstation level. The Relia RT3111
Token Ring adapter with RomShield on board is available within 30 days
from Relia's worldwide network of distributors and major resellers, at a
quantity-one retail price of $495.

"After the introduction of our Ethernet adapter with McAfee's RomShield, we
received numerous requests from our large corporate customers for a
TROPIC-based Token Ring adapter with RomShield on board," said Kent Holt,
vice president of sales and marketing for Relia Technologies. "The RT3111
was developed in direct response to these requests. By incorporating
RomShield on our Token Ring adapter, we can address our customers'
concerns with the spread of viruses over their networks with a boot-time
solution."

"As the first company to incorporate RomShield virus protection software on
its Token Ring products, Relia is providing an innovative, component-level
solution that can almost guarantee its customers a virus-free network,"
said William Larson, president of McAfee Associates.

The Relia RT3111 Token Ring adapter with RomShield on board can reduce the
time and cost associated with dealing with viruses. "As a hospital, we
work to keep our networks free of viruses' but every so often we run
across old viruses like Michaelangelo," said Owen Villa, network
coordinator of El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, CA. "With Relia's
Token Ring adapter with RomShield, we can proactively detect and eliminate
viruses at no additional cost. In the long run, this product can reduce
our MIS support calls and the time our users spend in eliminating viruses
and recovering corrupted data."

McAfee's RomShield and Virus Scan

By including McAfee's RomShield on its Token Ring adapter, Relia provides
its customers the latest technology in boot-time virus protection.
RomShield detects over 300 boot sector and master boot record viruses,
which represent over 75% of viruses that users cannot immediately correct.
RomShield loads into the computer as extended BIOS at boot time, detecting
viruses before they can load into system memory. Detection at this stage
prevents the transfer of viruses to the network server and other
workstations on the network. Floppy disks are automatically scanned and
optionally disinfected while in the floppy drive, and patent-pending
anti-stealth technology prevents viruses from directly accessing the
system's BIOS.

RomShield is housed in an ordinary low-cost PROM chip that can be upgraded
to provide ongoing protection against new viruses. Using an ordinary ROM
chip and making it field upgradeable eliminates the need for customers to
use expensive Flash ROM to upgrade and maintain protection from boot
viruses. RomShield does not use direct memory access (DMA), interrupts
(IRQs) or I/O ports.

RomShield cannot be disabled by the user and does not interfere with other
applications on the system. Compatible with IBM PCs, MS-DOS versions 3.1
to 6.3 and MS-Windows versions 3.x and Chicago, RomShield works with all
LAN operating systems, including Novell NetWare, Banyan VINES, Artisoft
Lantastic, PowerLAN and 10Net. The product supports MGA, CGA or VGA video
adapters and ISA, EISA or Micro Channel buses.

Relia is also offering with its Token Ring adapter a free 5-day license of
McAfee's new Scan, version 2.1. The market-leading Scan detects 97% of all
existing stealth, polymorphic and mutation engine viruses on workstations'
hard disk drives. Scan can be updated to protect against new viruses.

Relia's RT3111 Token Ring Adapter

The Relia RT3111 Token Ring adapter is based on the IBM TROPIC chip set and
offers high speed 8- or 16-bit ISA bus performance. The adapter
auto-installs in less than one minute, auto-senses and auto-selects for 4
MB or 16 MB ring speed and cabling type, and is auto-configurable through
selectable software settings. The RT3111 adapter has been tested and
certified by Novell as NetWare- and UnixWare-approved, and is compatible
with IEEE 802.2 and 802.5 industry standards and all IBM adapter drivers,
applications and advanced functions.

Relia Technologies, Inc. was founded in 1992 to provide the worldwide
