RACAL'S EXPANDED SECURITY PRODUCTS GROUP ADDS DATACRYPTOR LINE FROM
RACAL-DATACOM

October 18, 1994 -- SUNRISE, FL. -- Racal-Datacom, Inc. announces that its
Datacryptor encryption product line is transferred to Racal-Guardata, Inc.
The transfer is part of Racal's expansion and focus of its security
products and businesses to provide cost-effective solutions worldwide.
Racal-Datacom will act as a value-added reseller of Racal-Guardata
products, including Datacryptors, for customers requiring a single vendor
for network communications and security products.

Parent company Racal Electronics Plc acquired the Airtech Computer Security
group of companies earlier this year and created the global Racal-Airtech
Group. Racal-Guardata became a part of the group.

In a joint statement, President Jim Norman of Racal-Datacom, Inc. and
President Samuel D. Epstein of Racal-Guardata, Inc. declared, "This change
will benefit Racal's customers by consolidating all security products in a
single business focused on providing the best products at attractive
prices, maintaining Racal's outstanding reputation for pre and post sales
support and reenergizing the flow of innovative and cost-effective
security solutions for the marketplace. The Racal-Airtech Group is
dedicated to supplying the best security products and systems on a
worldwide basis."

"Racal is continuing its commitment to Datacryptor customers," said Ed
Duke, vice president of the Racal-Datacom, Inc. Products Division. "The
company will maintain its high level of support and services during and
after the transfer of product line responsibility to Racal-Guardata."

Datacryptor products include the Datacryptor 64 commercial encryptors
featuring the widely used DES encryption algorithm or optional proprietary
algorithm, the Datacryptor 641027 encryptors for federal government
applications, and commercial and FIPS 140-1 key management centers to
manage encryption keys. Racal encryption products are also available for
high-speed T-1 or E-1 multiplexing, medium speed transmission for
applications such as videoconferencing and LAN internetworking, end-to-end
packet encrypting for public and private X.25 packet switched networks,
and dial access to WANs and LANs.

Racal security solutions will be jointly displayed within Racal-Datacom
trade show and seminar exhibitions. An example is the combination of the
Racal-Guardata Access Gateway for security with the Racal-Datacom
Excalibur Single-ended T-1 (ASET-1).

Access Gateway provides token-based access control using one time passwords
to limit dial access to authorized users. Designed to meet the needs of
mobile computing and remote LAN access, the Access Gateway includes a
secure network management system that can control networks of up to 500
central sites and 65,000 remote users.

Credit card authorization, electronic mail, health claims processing, EDI
(electronic data interchange), telecommuting, electronic bulletin boards
and lotteries are typical applications for ASET-1. ASET-1 allows
geographically distributed remote users of conventional dial-up lines to
access a node via a digital T-1 circuit, providing economic and
performance advantages over traditional circuitry. ASET-1 users include
networks requiring high volume/low-speed short transactions and networks
requiring high-speed interactive lengthy transactions.
