Crescent Software Introduces QuickPak Professional for PowerBASIC

RlDGEFIELD, Conn. ----October 3, 1994----Crescent Software, Inc. has
announced the release of their popular QuickPak Professional add-on
library for use with PowerBASIC. QuickPak Professional is a comprehensive
collection of nearly 600 subroutines and functions for programmers using
PowerBASlC. It provides both low and high-level services, helping
programmers perform tasks that BASIC cannot do directly, or that are
difficult or time-consuming to program.

"We are pleased to support PowerBASlC," said Don Malin, President of
Crescent Software, Inc. "Many of our customers have upgraded from
Microsoft BASIC to PowerBASlC, and it makes good sense for us to continue
supporting them."

"Crescent's QuickPak Professional has long been recognized as the most
popular BASIC add an tool explained- Bob Zale, President of PowerBASIC,
Inc. "Our customers have been clamoring for this product for some time. We
are pleased to welcome Crescent as the latest in a growing number of third
party tool suppliers that have moved up to PowerBASIC." QuickPak
Professional includes high-level routines for handling data entry input
fields and menus, financial and scientific equations, date and time
arithmetic, graphics-mode printing, and much more. Many low-level routines
are also provided, including array manipulation such as sorting and
searching, extremely fast file operations, accessing EMS and XMS memory
and also DOS and BIOS interrupts. A complete set of hardware routines lets
the programmer query all aspects of the host PC, and extensive string
manipulation services offer encryption, parsing, and formatting.

All of the low-level service routines are written entirely in assembly
language. Don Malin said, "We use assembly language exclusively to offer
the absolute fastest performance and smallest code size possible. Although
it requires much more work on our part, the end result provides a
tremendous advantage for our customers."

Extensive documentation is included, along with more than 100 demonstration
programs and full BASIC and assembler source code. "It's Crescent's
philosophy that all of our products include complete, fully commented
source code for every routine" Don Malin related. "We genuinely want our
customers to see how these programs are written and to learn from them. We
are the only company in this business that provides full source code for
every product, and we've always included it at no additional cost."

Crescent Software, Inc. was established in 1986 to serve the needs of the
BASIC programming market. By focusing solely on tools for BASIC, Crescent
has maintained their leadership position and continued to develop new and
innovative products. Crescent founder Ethan Winer is well known throughout
the programming community as an ardent supporter of BASIC and as a
prolific author of magazine articles and books. Crescent's popular P.D.Q.
Library is a winner of Byte Magazine's User Choice Award for Language of
the year.
