CE Software Announces QuickMail Internet Access Kit

Combining #1 Selling Macintosh E-mail System, Dial-Up Internet Connection,
and Free Service Connect Time -- All in One Box!

West Des Moines, Iowa, October 31, 1994 -- CE Software and StarNine
Technologies today announced the release of a complete E-mail Internet
Access Kit for the Macintosh. The QuickMail Internet Access Kit combines
CE Software's number one selling E-mail solution and StarNine's
industry-leading dial-up Internet gateway Mail*Link Remote. Also included
is a special offer from UUNET Technologies, that waives the first month
subscription fee to its AlterNet service and provides QuickMail customers
with 10 free hours of connect time. The QuickMail Internet Access Kit is
the ideal solution for any organization looking to combine the benefits of
Local Area Network (LAN)-based E-mail and the Internet.

"In today's ever changing marketplace it is imperative that our customers
have the ability to effectively communicate both inside and outside their
organizations," said Ford Goodman, president and CEO of CE Software. "With
this in mind, we have teamed up with two industry leaders, StarNine
Technologies and UUNET Technologies, to provide Macintosh users access to
the Internet. At CE Software we are committed to delivering the most cost
effective and intuitive Macintosh communication tools available," said
Goodman.

Comprehensive LAN-Based E-Mail System For Ten Users

The QuickMail Internet Access Kit includes a QuickMail 10-user pak
containing server and administrator software; clients for Macintosh,
Windows, and DOS platforms; QM Forms; QM Remote; QuickConference; and
gateways and bridges connecting to popular on-line services. QuickMail
also includes built-in spell-checking, extensive searching capabilities,
and the MailManager (mail rules).

Dial-Up Connection To The Internet

The Mail*Link Remote gateway included in the QuickMail Access Kit works
transparently over a modem connected to the QuickMail Server, and allows
users to address Internet mail within QuickMail's user-friendly interface.
Internet addresses can then be imported, created, and stored in QuickMail
address books for re-use. To connect QuickMail to the AlterNet service,
users simply complete the "Easy Set-Up Screen" during the installation
process and Mail*Link Remote inserts the information where appropriate
within the application.

"Many small businesses, schools, and non-profit organizations are familiar
with the benefits of Internet E-mail, but barriers to entry have been
high," said Tom Biddulph, founder and CEO of StarNine Technologies.
"That's why we simplified the installation process for Mail*Link Remote
allowing customers to connect QuickMail to the Internet in just minutes,"
said Biddulph.

Free Subscription and Connect Time

Also included in the QuickMail Internet Access Kit is an offer from UUNET
Technologies. UUNET will waive the first month subscription fee for their
AlterNet UNIX-to-UNIX Copy Protocol (UUCP) service and provide QuickMail
customers with 10 free hours of connect time. To subscribe to the AlterNet
service, customers simply complete the UUNET account subscription form
found in the package and fax it to UUNET. Within forty-eight hours,
customers receive a Connection Confirmation Sheet from UUNET notifying
them that their service has been activated. UUNET supplies UUCP access
through its own hubs, through an 800 number, or via CompuServe at
thousands of local access points around the United States.

Hands-On Guide To Accessing The Internet By E-Mail

In addition, the QuickMail Internet Access Kit also includes a copy of
"Doctor Bob Rankin's Accessing the Internet by E-mail". This hands-on
booklet explains how QuickMail users can fully utilize an E-mail
connection to the Internet. "Accessing the Internet by E-mail" outlines
the process of retrieving information from today's most popular services
including FTP, Gopher, WAIS and the World Wide Web (a.k.a. "Mosaic") all
from within QuickMail. It also highlights the steps necessary to subscribe
to Internet mailing lists and retrieve news from USENET discussion groups
using the QuickMail client.

Dial-Up Connection And Service Discounts For Current QuickMail Customers In
an effort to deliver a cost effective Internet solution to existing
QuickMail customers, CE Software is also offering StarNine Technologies'
Mail*Link Remote gateway to its installed base at significantly reduced
prices. All Mail*Link Remote packages purchased direct from CE Software
will include the same UUNET service discounts found in the QuickMail
Internet Access Kit.
