PowerBASIC Releases PB/Xtra

CARMEL, Calif. ----September 9, 1994 ---- PowerBASIC, Inc. announced today
the initial shipments of PB/Xtra, the Programmer's Reference Collection.
PB/Xtra contains more than 35 megabytes of public domain source code,
shareware utilities and libraries, freeware, and commercial demos, all
compressed onto a concise set of eleven high density diskettes. Developers
can use the code and tools found in PB/Xtra to make their programming in
PowerBASIC faster and easier.

"The PB/Xtra Collection was selected and compiled by our PowerBASIC
engineering staff", explained Bob Zale, President of PoweBASIC, Inc. "We
chose this core group of files from thousands of submissions by noted
programmers, authors of third party toolkits, and individuals as well.
Programmers asked for source code to help them work faster and smarter.
PB/Xtra offers a cost effective solution."

PB/Xtra offers file compression, super VGA code with sprite animation and
bitmap files, graphics and text mode fonts, mouseable menus, pick lists,
and dialog boxes. There's code for dBase file management, a B-Tree ISAM,
and access to both EMS and XMS memory space. It even includes the complete
source code to a working bulletin board system (BBS) for electronic mail
and file transfers which can be personalized to suit the user's needs.
PB/Xtra also includes utilities for Quick Basic to PowerBASlC conversion,
source code formatting, cross referencing, text editing and much more.
Reference material on printer codes, BIOS and DOS interrupts, useful peek
locations in memory, and an introduction to assembler programming are also
provided. The PB/Xtra install program provides a table of contents with
individual file descriptions, a complete index with key word search, and
selective file-by-file decompression.

"PB/Xtra is the easiest way to access the volumes of code now available for
PowerBASIC", reported Jim Byrne, PowerBASIC developer and noted architect
of the SDI (Star Wars) Battle Manager for TRW. "PB/Xtra has saved me hours
of search and download time with online services. At $ 1.58 per megabyte,
PB/Xtra is a real bargain. It's just like having my own personal
PowerBASIC BBS in a box."

BBS operators can upload the entire PB/Xtra Collection to their bulletin
boards and use it as the core for a PowerBASIC conference area. Interested
BBS operators should contact PowerBASIC, Inc. for special pricing for the
'Online' version of PB/Xtra.

PB/Xtra is available to PowerBASIC customers for $49 by calling (800)
780-7707 or (408) 659-8000, or by FAX at (408) 659-8008. It is also
