Object-Oriented Geographic Visualization Company Formed

St. Paul, Oct. 7, 1994 --- Object/FX Corporation announces its formation as
an object technology software and services company based in St. Paul, MN.
The company develops, markets and supports object-oriented software
applications and reusable software components. The company's first family
of products address customer needs in the geographic visualization
software market. These products enable a wide range of organizations to
geographically display, correlate, manipulate and analyze information
residing in existing, text-based corporate databases.

Until now, viewing locations and relationships among customers, physical
assets, competitors, properties, store/outlet locations, demographics and
other information sets required the purchase of a dedicated, stand-alone
desktop mapping system, or a Geographic Information System (GIS).
Object/FX eliminates the need for these special-purpose systems, by using
object technology to create software components. These components are
designed to be embedded within existing non-graphic software products in
current, day-to-day use to add geographic visualization, analysis and
decision support functionality. Object/FX software can be embedded in a
wide variety of existing software products, regardless of source language,
operating system, or database platform. The addition of geographic
visualization and analysis provides a powerful easy to use visual
interface to disparate data, enabling faster, sounder, and more
competitive operational and strategic business decisions. "Our use of
object technology offers a dramatic cost and time savings over traditional
GIS or desktop mapping solutions. By making it easy to embed geographic
visualization into existing and new applications, Object/FX can make these
powerful capabilities accessible, easy-to-use and cost effective for both
developers and end users," said Bruce Gilmore, president of Object/FX.

Object/FX will also market reusable object-oriented software components
that can be used by programmers reengineering or enhancing existing
systems using object technology. These components are among the first to
reach the rapidly expanding market for large scale, reusable business
objects. Based on research by Ovum, Ltd. the segment of the object
technology market which includes reusable components is expected to grow
at a 28% rate between 1992 and 1997, and is projected to be 25% of the
$4.05 billion market for object-oriented software products.

Financing for Object/FX was provided by Software Consolidations, Inc.
(SCI). SCI, backed by St. Paul Venture Capital, was founded in 1993 to
acquire and consolidate complementary companies in specific market areas
in the multi-billion dollar software and information services industry.
Object/FX represented SCI's first investment in the rapidly growing
Geographic Information Systems industry.

In conjunction with the foundation of Object/FX, Bruce Gilmore has been
named president of the company. Gilmore was previously president, chief
executive officer and director of UltiMap, a GIS software company. Prior
to this, he was general manager, Data Management Services and Education
Services, at Metaphor, Inc., an independently managed subsidiary of IBM
involved in the decision support systems and services business. He also
served as vice president of information delivery for A.C. Nielsen
Company.

Object/FX's suite of software products is written using the Smalltalk
object-oriented programming language from ParcPlace Systems, Inc.
Object/FX software runs on a wide variety of hardware platforms and
operating systems including Windows 3.1, Windows NT, OS/2, Macintosh
System 7, as well as a variety of UNIX platforms including HP-UX, IBM AIX
, SunOS, Solaris and Dynix.
