ELECTRONIC ARTS AND TODD RUNDGREN BRING FIRST INTERACTIVE MUSIC-ONLY CD TO
PC PLATFORM

SAN MATEO, Calif, September 23, 1994--Electronic Arts announces the release
of No World Order, a revolutionary interactive music product for the PC CD
platform. No World Order was created by world-famous musician, noted
producer, and constant innovator Todd Rundgren. Todd has invented a
completely new art form with this product; the listener is actively
involved in the process of making music.

Originally released for Phillips CD-i, No World Order is the world's first
interactive music-only product. It was a best seller on the CD-i platform
in its initial release, garnering the 1994 Video Magazine Best Interactive
Disc Of The Year Award. "Moving No World Order to the Macintosh represents
the latest conquest in an ongoing campaign to subvert as many platforms as
possible into interactive music players," says Rundgren.

So what is it?

The difference between No World Order and conventional music CDs is similar
to the difference between watching TV and playing a videogame. With the
former, you are a passive consumer, while with the latter you are an
active participant. With No World Order, the listener participates in the
creation of new music. However, the level of interaction is up to the
user--you can let it play unmodified, occasionally change settings, or
continually change parameters in real-time with the mouse.

This disc contains almost a thousand digital audio musical events. An AI
engine, developed by Rundgren, interprets your input to determine the
order in which the events are played. Depending on the choices you make,
the CD could sound entirely different each time it is played.

TR-i, the persona Todd has chosen for this CD, stands for "Todd Rundgren
Interactive." TR-i represents a merging of Todd Rundgren the artist and
Todd Rundgren the technologist. No World Order is a musical album that is
different each time it is played, but Todd's unmistakable sound and
philosophy is retained. From hip-hop to pastoral moods, the listener
experiences music that is ever-changing yet coherent. "Users would have to
play the disc for 24 hours a day, seven days a week well into the next
millennium in order to hear the same version of a song twice," says
Rundgren.

Well known to music fans, Rundgren first burst on the scene with 60's cult
group The Nazz. Not satisfied with conventional pop stardom, he went on to
projects as diverse as the one-man band album Somthing/Anything, an a
cappella album with all the 'instruments' created from his own voice, and
the second video ever played on MTV ("Time Heals"). Along the way, he also
led the noted progressive band Utopia. He has also produced over 60
artists, including XTC, Meatloaf, Psychedelic Furs, Patti Smith, Cheap
Trick, Hall & Oates, and Paul Shaffer. Never one to be one-dimensional,
Todd branched out to computer technology in his spare time, creating the
first color graphics tablet (licensed to Apple) and the Flow-Fazer screen
saver.

"No World Order is an entirely new musical experience that, quite honestly,
could not have come from any musician BUT Todd Rundgren," says Gary
Gettys, product manager. "He's always pushed the limits of music,
technology, and interactivity. Now, those skills have come together in
this ground-breaking work. We at Electronic Arts look forward to working
together with TR-i."

No World Order is already available for Macintosh CD and is also planned
for release on the 3DO platform in early 1995. "Having proven both the
technical and commercial viability of interactive music, Todd and I are
now thrilled with the prospect of imminent multi-platform availability of
the world's first interactive record album through Electronic Arts," says
Eric Gardner, Rundgren's manager of 19 years. "It is entirely appropriate
that two leaders in their respective fields have formed an alliance, which
we all hope to rapidly expand to other areas in the very near future."
