Satellite-Based "Microsoft TV" to Premier Nov. 1

Innovative, Semimonthly TV Show Offers Customers Insight Into Microsoft
Solutions

REDMOND, Wash. - Oct. 25, 1994 - Microsoft Corporation today announced
"Microsoft TV," a one-hour, semimonthly satellite broadcast program
scheduled to premier Nov. 1 and designed to help customers stay informed
about Microsoft products, applications and strategies.

"Microsoft TV" is aimed at corporate information services professionals,
software developers, line-of-business managers and Microsoft Solution
Providers. It will provide concise, direct-from-the-source technical and
strategic information.

Offered in response to customer requests for more timely and in-depth
information from Microsoft, "Microsoft TV" focuses on ways in which
Microsoft solutions are developed and used by corporations to integrate
and streamline business processes. These programs will build on
Microsoft's popular DevCast series, which reached over 100,000 software
developers in June 1994. "Microsoft TV" will air at 8 a.m. Pacific time on
the first and third Tuesdays of each month.

"The interest in 'Microsoft TV' is incredible," said John Neilson, general
manager of the organizational customer unit at Microsoft. "Customers and
partners are anxious to get information on Microsoft products and services
they can use to derive business benefit from client-server computing.
'Microsoft TV' will host Microsoft and third-party experts to broadcast
information on development strategies, workgroup applications and server
solutions. Over 1,400 customer and partner organizations have already
signed up for regular broadcasts, which will reach hundreds of thousands
of individuals worldwide."

Most viewers will see the telecast from company conference rooms, or, in
the growing number of companies where cable and satellite programming are
available on desktop PCs, they will be able to tune in without leaving
their offices. Neilson noted that organizations taking advantage of
"Microsoft TV" can realize a savings in time and productivity as well as
the travel expense often associated with attending seminars. "The key is
convenience. We are focused on making business computing expertise as
readily available to customers and partners as we can," he said.

Rich Hoeg, technical education service manager at Honeywell, Inc., is a
strong proponent of Microsoft education programming via satellite. "I'm
pleased that Microsoft is increasing its satellite education programming,"
he said. "Information from Microsoft via satellite helps reduce training
costs and can be put to use immediately. We are looking forward to
frequent updates on 'Microsoft TV.'" Hoeg said that Honeywell used DevCast
extensively and will make "Microsoft TV" available to employees
worldwide.

"Microsoft TV" has also won the support of Microsoft Solution Providers,
who have borne much of the burden of corporate education. "We're excited
about 'Microsoft TV,'" said Thomas O'Grady of IAR, Inc., a Microsoft
Solution Provider and Authorized Technical Education Center in Newark,
Del. "It is a new way for customers to learn about Microsoft technology.
Progress in the computer industry is moving too rapidly to rely on
anything less."

The Nov. 1 segment of "Microsoft TV" is the premier installment of the
Microsoft Distributed Computing Series, which informs viewers on ways to
run their businesses more effectively with distributed computing solutions
based on the Microsoft BackOffice suite of products and the Windows
operating system. The second show, scheduled to air on Nov. 15, will
feature the implementation of a custom enterprise information system based
on Microsoft Office highlighting Microsoft SQL Server.
