Gold Standard Multimedia Releases Radiologic Anatomy on CD-ROM

Award-Winning Interactive Videodisc Used by Over 60 Medical Schools in Six
Countries Is Now Available to CD-ROM Users

RADIOLOGIC ANATOMY CD-ROM PROVIDES AFFORDABLE CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR
RADIOLOGISTS

Gainesville, FL, --Gold Standard Multimedia Inc. has announced the much
anticipated CD-ROM release of Radiologic Anatomy for the Macintosh and
Windows formats. Radiologic Anatomy, recognized as the best program in its
category at the Radiologic Society of North America's 1993 conference,
presents anatomy instruction from a radiological perspective. The new
CD-ROM version offers multimedia learning centers, hospitals, anatomy
students, and home users affordable access to the same program already in
use at 60 medical schools in six countries.

Originally, Radiologic Anatomy was developed as a Macintosh-driven
videodisc program. After several months of hard work, Gold Standard
Multimedia's product design team has completed the CD-ROM version. This
required the conversion of all the videodisc's x-rays and cadaver images
from an analog to a digital format and the conversion of full-motion x-ray
(fluoroscopy) and radiological technique videos to QuickTime movies.
Additionally, the format had to be changed from that of a two-screen
environment in which radiographs and full-motion videos ran on an external
monitor and corresponding text ran on the computer monitor, to an
integrated, single-screen format. Because of the extensive capacity of the
CD, Gold Standard Multimedia was able to press both the Macintosh and
Windows versions together on one CD, making it convenient for users who
desire cross-platform capabilities.

The Radiologic Anatomy CD is the end result of more than three years of
development that began when Dr. Linda Lanier, a practicing radiologist and
professor at the University of Florida College of Medicine, sought a way
to computerize her teaching files and cumbersome student film packets. She
teamed with Richard Rathe, MD, Director of Medical Informatics at the
University, and Jonathan Seymour, MD, then a student at the College of
Medicine. Together they created the first version of Radiologic Anatomy,
providing medical and health care students with a comprehensive
introduction to radiology. The program focuses on normal anatomy and also
includes introductory radiologic pathology, gross anatomic correlations
through laboratory dissection photos, and radiologic technique video
clips.

Because of its thorough content and extensive testing and quizzing
capabilities, Radiologic Anatomy has been accredited by the American
Society of Radiologic Tehnologists for 32 mandatory Evidence of Continuing
Education (ECE) credits for radiologic technologists. Hospitals and
radiology practice groups with CD-ROM drives will now be able to take
advantage of this affordable in-house retraining tool.

The suggested retail price for Radiologic Anatomy is $195. Hospitals must
purchase a version with 320 hours of ECE credit for $1,000. A version for
individual radiology practices which includes 96 hours of ECE credit is
available for $495. Students may purchase the program for the discounted
price of $99.
