DIAMAR Interactive was founded in November 1993 to develop and market
interactive CD-ROM software. The company specializes in titles that
improve a persons proficiency and pleasure with such leisure-time
activities as photography, travel, golf, and wine-appreciation. The
company's founders, David Roberts and Michael Carpenter, bring 15 years of
product marketing, sales, distribution, and business experience in the
software industry.

DIAMAR has focused its initial efforts on developing products in the field
of photography. The company introduced itself to the CD-ROM marketplace
with the March 1994 launch of DIAMAR Portfolios, six CD-ROMs of
high-quality digital stock photography. Its primary focus, however, has
been to develop the interactive leisure and lifestyle title, Understanding
Exposure, for amateur single-lens-reflex (SLR) photographers. The product
is based on the best-selling photography book of the same name by
award-winning photographer Bryan Peterson (published by Amphoto Inc.).
Understanding Exposure was released to market in September 1994.

DIAMAR is actively pursuing content for additional leisure and lifestyle
CD-ROMs, all aimed at cultivating the viewers' involvement in their
hobbies and vacation activities.

Product Development

DIAMAR Interactive development cycles average three months or less for each
Macromedia Director-based title. The company is able to take a product
from concept to final disc in such a short time because of its proprietary
database engine. By automating many time-consuming processes -- such as
composing text for easy reading on screen, or optimizing colors so images
stand out on any computer or monitor -- the proprietary database engine
enables staff to reduce development times without undermining the high
quality of the final product.

This database approach also allows DIAMAR titles to readily adapt to the
discrete learning styles of viewers. For example, with almost 2,000
different screens and over 400 photographs, videos and narrations,
Understanding Exposure offers a wealth of information for all types of
viewers. Because the engine can quickly forge multiple paths through the
maze of data, viewers can organize their lessons and navigate the
information in ways that suit their personal learning styles and
abilities.

Understanding Exposure

Understanding Exposure: How to Take Great Photographs is an interactive
leisure and lifestyle CD-ROM designed to promote the viewers avocational
interest in photography. It is based on the book of the same name by
award-winning photographer and author Bryan Peterson.

The CD-ROM includes more than 400 of the best photographs from Petersons
portfolio, along with video and narration of Peterson discussing the
techniques he used for specific pictures. Information is organized into
four interactive sections to offer the viewer different ways of learning
the material:

* Interactive Theater - a multimedia overview of the lessons included on
the CD-ROM, presented in a linear, easy-to-follow way

* Photography Workshop - an opportunity for viewers to accommodate their
own learning style by customizing their lessons around photographic
principles, techniques, actual examples, or all three

* PhotoLab - a way to experiment with different exposure settings on actual
photographs, and immediately see the results

* Photography Gallery - a quick way to browse through the photographs on
the CD-ROM, and see which exposure settings were used to achieve the
results

The company selected Peterson for its leisure and lifestyle photography
title because his teaching methodology is so appropriate for CD-ROM
adaptation. Peterson typically demonstrates his theories by showing
different photographs of the same subject and explaining how exposure
settings and lighting affected the results. On CD-ROM, this is equivalent
to receiving immediate feedback on a photo shoot -- without having to wait
for the film to be developed. Peterson's teachings, which have reached
over 12,000 students in workshops all over the country, focus on the
complexities of light, and the interdependencies of aperture, shutter
speed, and film speed, which he refers to as the "Photographic Triangle."

Understanding Exposure is compatible with both the Macintosh and Windows
operating systems. The CD-ROM version also comes with Petersons book,
valued at $22.50. The CD-ROM bundled with the book will be available for a
suggested retail price of $79.95.

DIAMAR Portfolios

The DIAMAR Portfolios series consists of six CD-ROMs of digital stock
photography in the following categories:

* Cities & Castles       * Backgrounds & Textures
* Landscapes & Scenery   * Nature & Animals
* People & Lifestyles    * Flowers

Each CD-ROM includes 54 images from award-winning professional
photographers, hand-picked for their compositional strength, vivid colors,
and engaging subject matter. The images were scanned using
state-of-the-art Kodak PhotoCD, manipulated in Adobe PhotoShop to save
customer time, and color-corrected for optimum printing. Each image comes
in multiple resolutions and five different file formats, including
pre-separated CMYK TIFF for color printing, 24-bit RGB TIFF for multimedia
and on-screen presentations, and black-and-white TIFF for simple desktop
laser printing.

DIAMAR Portfolios CD-ROM packages also include a software-compatibility
chart, color guide describing the photographs, and production tips for
working with color separations and service providers. The discs are
compatible with both the Macintosh and Windows operating systems. The
suggested retail price is $79.95.
