Leisure and Lifestyle CD-ROM Introduced In Time For Holidays

SEATTLE, WA (October 13, 1994) -- DIAMAR Interactive, a new entrant into
CD-ROM titles development, today introduced its first leisure and
lifestyle title, Understanding Exposure: How to Take Great Photographs.
Based on a book of the same name by award-winning photographer and author
Bryan Peterson, the interactive CD-ROM incorporates sound, video, still
photography, and text to provide the single-lens-reflex (SLR) photographer
with practical advice on shooting photographs.

The company selected Peterson because his unique approach to teaching could
be successfully adapted to the interactive CD-ROM format. The disc
integrates more than 400 of Peterson's best photographs, along with
instructive video and audio clips, into a complete interactive photography
course.

DIAMAR chose photography as the topic for its first leisure and lifestyle
title because of the strong correlation between computer users and SLR
camera owners. According to Popular Photography magazine, 50% of the U.S.
population owns a still photography camera, and 14% of those are SLR
models. The magazine further reports that nearly half its 650,000
subscribers own computers, which suggests there is a definite market for
CD-ROM titles on photography.

"No other CD-ROM of this kind is being sold today," said DIAMAR co-founder
and president, David Roberts. "Yet the subject matter is such a natural
fit for CD-ROM technology. Imagine being able to set different apertures
and shutter speeds, then immediately see the results without having to
wait for your film to be developed."

The user learns photographic techniques via four interactive sections.

* Interactive Theater - a multimedia overview of the lessons included on
the CD-ROM, presented in a linear, easy-to-follow way

* Photography Workshop - an opportunity for viewers to accommodate their
own learning style by customizing their lessons around photographic
principles, techniques, actual examples, or all three

* PhotoLab - a way to experiment with different exposure settings on actual
photographs, and immediately see the results

* Photography Gallery - a quick way to browse through the photographs on
the CD-ROM, and see which exposure settings were used to achieve the
results

Bryan Peterson began taking pictures in 1970, and now specializes in
available-light photography for clients all over the world. In addition to
Understanding Exposure, he is the author of two other books, People in
Focus, and Learning to See Creatively. He has also written dozens of
articles for U.S., Dutch, and German photography magazines, including
Outdoor Photographer, where he has been a contributing editor since 1989.
Peterson is currently working on a book and CD-ROM about Cuba.

In 1979, Peterson began teaching photography workshops, and continues to do
so as part of the Great American Photography Works Series sponsored by
Nikon and Kodak. Over 12,000 people have learned about Petersons theories
of light and his trademark "Photographic Triangle," which presents the
interdependencies of aperture, shutter speed, and film speed in new and
very practical terms.

Understanding Exposure, will be sold through a combination of software
retail outlets, mail order catalogs, direct mail, bookstores, and camera
stores for a suggested retail price of $79.95. The product runs on both
Macintosh and Windows-compatible PCs equipped with a CD-ROM drive. During
the holiday season, the product includes Petersons popular book version, a
$22.50 value.
