DELL EXTENDS PENTIUM PROCESSOR PUSH INTO ASIA, LATIN AMERICA AND THE MIDDLE
EAST

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 12, 1994 -- In a series of worldwide product
introductions that have brought new Pentium processor-based products to
market, Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: DELL) announced today that it
is now shipping two families of Pentium-based PCs to customers in
virtually every country in Asia as well as Latin America and the Middle
East. Company Chairman and CEO Michael Dell disclosed the news at a press
and customer event held in conjunction with the company's distributors
this week in Beijing. Dell also announced availability of new 486 desktop
systems and Latitude portable computers to customers into these markets.

Over the past eight weeks, Dell has introduced similar Pentium
processor-based personal computer products in virtually every country in
North America, Europe, and now Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East.
By continuing to focus on its global Pentium processor leadership
position, Dell is uniquely situated to take advantage of the industry's
ongoing transition from 486 to the next-generation processor.

"With this announcement, our customers in international markets will be
able to get the industry's leading technology at roughly the same prices
that many are today paying for previous-generation 486-based systems,"
said Michael Dell. "These new products also come with the quality and
reliability that customers have grown to expect from Dell."

POWERFUL PENTIUM SYSTEMS

The new slimline OptiPlex 560/L and OptiPlex X590 systems--including the
OptiPlex XL590, XM590 and XMT590--are specially designed for business
customers, and include the latest in high-performance Pentium processing
power. Dell also announced availability of the Dell OptiPlex 486/e line,
consisting of the 486/Le, 486/MXe, and 486/MTe.

These new families of systems offer a wide variety of new features and some
of the latest technologies on the market, ensuring customers a lasting
investment value. Highlights of the features in the new OptiPlex line
include:

Plug and Play -- The new OptiPlex X590 and OptiPlex 560/L systems are the
first Plug and Play-capable systems from Dell and the OptiPlex 486/e
systems are the first Plug and Play-ready systems. In the future, Plug and
Play will enable customers who want to upgrade their systems to install a
new device and the system will automatically identify the device and
reconfigure the system.

Enhanced IDE -- This new design provides greater disk performance,
accelerating the speed that data can travel through the system by up to
450 percent on the OptiPlex X590. Enhanced IDE also allows for direct
connection to other storage devices such as low-cost Enhanced IDE CD-ROM
drives.

New mini-tower form factor with ergonomic design -- Offered for the first
time in the OptiPlex line, the new minitower offers high levels of
expandability in an ergonomic design.

Network-ready setup -- The new OptiPlex systems arrive with all the
relevant hardware and software features included so a customer can simply
connect the system to a network cable, make a few keystrokes and the
system can automatically configure itself to the network.

LATITUDE NOTEBOOKS

Dell also announced that it will begin shipping its new enhanced Dell
Latitude family of full-featured notebook computers in Asia, Latin America
and the Middle East. Designed for users running mainstream applications,
the Dell Latitude series also offers a new level of best-in- class
ergonomics and system modularity, advanced video performance and
innovative power-management features.

The new Dell Latitude notebooks redefine computer mobility through useful
technology innovations. For example, the system's floppy drive may be
removed and a second battery inserted into the floppy drive bay, providing
dual-battery support and adding just one-half pound to the compact
six-pound unit. In testing performed by VeriTest, inc. -- a leading
independent microcomputer product test laboratory -- the new Dell Latitude
outlasted the laboratory's previous record-holder by more than one hour.

designs, develops, manufactures, markets, services and supports a complete
line of personal computers compatible with industry standards. Dell is the
