DELL COMPUTER RECOGNIZED AS WORLDWIDE LEADER IN SHIPMENTS OF PENTIUM
PROCESSOR BASED UNITS

Attributes Continued Pentium Leadership Position in Pentium Chip Systems to
Best Time-to-Market, Value

AUSTIN, Texas, October 13, 1994 -- Dell Computer Corporation today was
recognized as the worldwide leader in Pentium processor based unit
shipments for the third quarter of 1994 by Workgroup Technologies, a
leading independent industry research firm.

Dell cited its track record of fast time-to-market with each new generation
of Pentium processor, its ability to lead the industry in
price/performance and its rapid transition of Dell customers to the
Pentium processor as the reasons behind Dell's position as the new leader
in worldwide Pentium unit sales.

The Pentium processor, developed by Intel Corporation, is the next
generation of PC processor technology and is quickly replacing the 486 as
the PC industry's mainstream processor, while putting much greater power
onto the desktop. For example, the 90 megahertz Pentium processor offers
customers up to 147% increase in performance over 66MHz 486 processors.

"The industry is transitioning to the Pentium processor faster than any
processor in the history of the personal computer market," said Michael
Dell, Dell's chairman and CEO, "and Dell is uniquely positioned to take
advantage of that transition. Our build-to-order business model enables us
to maintain some of the lowest inventory levels in the industry allowing
us to not only transition our product line quickly to next-generation
technologies, but also to quickly pass along the savings associated with
component cost reductions to our customers. The result is Dell customers
get access to the latest technologies at some of the most aggressive price
points in the industry."

"Because of our direct model and custom-build capabilities and an
aggressive product development plan," Dell continued, "we have been able
to migrate our product line to Pentium processors much faster than most of
our key competitors, giving us a decided advantage in time-to-market and
cost. As a result, Dell has not only been first to market or 'tied for
first' to market with each version of the Pentium processor, we have also
lead the industry in price/performance, as well. In fact, we have the
broadest Pentium processor offering of any major vendor in the industry."

"Dell is a major force in the industry's transition to the Pentium
processor and continues to demonstrate the ability to be quick to market
with our latest leadership products," said Andy Grove, Intel president and
CEO. "The winners are the computer users."

Independent research firm Workgroup Technologies recently cited Dell as the
worldwide leader in Pentium processor shipments for the third quarter of
1994, surpassing IBM, Compaq and Gateway 2000, further affirming Dell's
Pentium leadership position. "Dell has hit this important marketplace hard
and it's clearly showing," said John Dunkle, president of Workgroup
Technologies.

A Global 500 company, Dell Computer Corporation (NASDAQ: DELL) designs,
develops, manufactures, markets, services and supports a complete line of
personal computers compatible with industry standards. Dell is the world's
leading direct marketer of personal computers and one of the top five
personal computer vendors in the world with annual revenues of nearly $3
