DCA ANNOUNCES REMOTE LAN NODE VERSION 3.0

October 31, 1994 -- ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- DCA today announced Remote LAN Node
(RLN) version 3.0, new client and server remote LAN access software that
adds support for OS/2 clients, X.25 networks, dynamic TCP/IP addressing
capabilities, increased performance, and tools to ease RLN client software
deployment.

"The release of RLN 3.0 strengthens our leadership position in the remote
LAN access market by providing greater WAN connection capabilities and
availability to users of other desktop platforms," said David Gould,
president of DCA's Remote Access Division. "DCA is determined to address
remote users' needs as their communications requirements grow. This is
only one of several DCA products that work together and independently to
allow the network to be used very efficiently, providing effective remote
connectivity that is essential for an enterprise wide system."

RLN 3.0 extends networking environments through corporate applications such
as e-mail and databases to remote and mobile PC users, allowing those
users to access the network as if it is a locally connected user,
providing effective remote connectivity that is essential for an
enterprise wide system.

The RLN 3.0 software now includes support for OS/2 clients, offering the
same easy-to-use functionality and configurability as for DOS and Windows
counterparts. The software supports the RLN client API, enabling
OS/2-based corporations to integrate remote access with their own
applications. For example, by using the RLN API to embed remote access
into the sales force automation program, the field sales force can
seamlessly call into the application over RLN to check product prices on
inventory levels. The RLN OS/2 client's user interface is consistent with
the other RLN clients and, like them, supports the NDIS and ODI APIs.

Another primary feature of RLN 3.0 is support for X.25. This enables the
RLN server to become a DTE node on the X.25 network. The RLN server
accommodates up to four synchronous interfaces using Eicon or OST X.25
boards. By integrating this technology directly into the RLN server,
companies can significantly reduce dial-up costs by utilizing X.25
networks for remote LAN access.

"DCA's RLN product has done a great job of integrating remote LAN access of
X.25 networks by using Eicon Technology's industry leading X.25 adapter
cards," said Guy Hoffman, Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at Eicon
Technology. "Eicon's X.25 server-based solutions provide this integration
by delivering synchronous WAN access to the corporate LAN."

Additional features include speed enhancements that support all port
configurations: two, four, eight, 16, 24 or 32 ports and integrated X.25
ports. RLN 3.0 includes faster communication technologies for async
connections with the new Intelligent Multi-port adapter board (IMPA),
generating a 40 percent faster aggregate throughput.

RLN 3.0 addresses one of the biggest problems facing LAN administrators
when deploying remote access to their remote users -installation. RLN
features the Client Builder application -- software capabilities that make
it easy deploy, maintain and run applications. A sophisticated,
easy-to-use RLN Client Builder program exists for all supported platforms
and includes options for default, full, or custom installation. The RLN
Client Builder application now provides users with the flexibility to set
up client diskettes for all supported platforms and guides them through
each network operating system to provide an optimized custom client disk.
The Client Builder software also offers an easy method to replicate
diskettes.

Unlike other Remote Access products, RLN 3.0 offers complete BOOTP and RARP
services. This allows the dynamic allocation of IP addresses on a per-port
or Mac address basis. Because the RLN server can assign IP addresses to
local and remote users, this eliminates headaches that have plagued the
use of TCP/IP for remote access in enterprise-wide networks.

In addition to RLN software enhancements, DCA also offers the RLN Turnkey
Server (TKS) that features easy installation options to offer remote users
access to the LAN. The RLN TKS has all the RLN Server hardware and
software installed in a rack-mountable customized PC. The user simply
plugs in and is ready to run and manage the RLN system.

The RLN TKS includes one or two DCA IMPA boards that function as a four or
eight-port ISA-compatible communications adapter for running RS-232-type
protocols. Also included is an on-board processor and software that
eliminates I/O processing for boosting speed and performance. Each IMPA
port has DB-25 connectors that allow the IMPA to communicate with
industry-standard modems.

Other RLN features include a range of system sizes, from an inexpensive two
port server for evaluation purposes to a 32 port server; a Windows-based
SNMP Manager for easy configuration and management; and full support for
Token Ring and Ethernet topologies on all major network operating systems,
including NetWare, LAN Manger, LAN Server, Banyan and Windows for
Workgroups.

Available immediately through DCA's standard distribution network, RLN 3.0
is available in both Ethernet and Token-Ring at a suggested retail price
ranging from $895 to $14,395 for configurations two through 32. RLN 3.0
WAN kit is available in both Ethernet and Token-Ring at a suggested retail
price ranging from $895 to $10, 895 for two to 32 port configurations. The
RLN Turnkey Server is also available in Ethernet and Token-Ring and ranges
from $3,845 to $9,395 in configurations four, eight, and 16.
