COMPAQ ANNOUNCES CUSTOMER SUPPORT ON THE INTERNET

HOUSTON, Sept. 28, 1994 -- Reinforcing its commitment to provide customers
with the most complete service and support offerings, Compaq Computer
Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) today announced Compaq Support on the Internet,
offering customers a direct link to Compaq technical support and
information services over the Internet, the popular electronic network
that links thousands of universities, corporations, government entities
and community computer networks.

Compaq Support on the Internet provides customers with a direct link to
extensive Compaq technical support resources that can be accessed 24 hours
a day, seven days a week. Users can download Compaq-specific product
information and files, as well as receive support and advice on line.

"The addition of Compaq Support on the Internet underscores our commitment
to bring customers state-of-the-art service and support through the
methods that most effectively meet their needs," said Gus Kolias, Compaq
Vice President, Customer Service and Training. "Support over the Internet,
today's most popular route to the information superhighway, provides
customers with an easy and efficient method of tapping into Compaq
information resources."

Compaq Support on the Internet enables customers to submit questions
directly to Compaq Technical Support staff, who review and respond to
questions on a daily basis, via an electronic mail address. The service
also allows users to access files through an anonymous File Transfer
Protocol (FTP) site and download SoftPaq software files, drivers,
utilities and software solutions for Compaq products.

Access to Compaq product and service information, including product
features and specifications, press releases and announcements, is
available through the addition of a Compaq World Wide Web (WWW) server,
which enables readers to browse through the information as part of a large
collection of hypertext documents.

To use Compaq Support on the Internet, customers must have access to the
Internet. Once connected to the Internet, questions can be submitted to
Compaq Technical Support staff using the electronic mail address:
SUPPORT@COMPAQ.COM. Compaq files can be accessed using the address:
FTP.COMPAQ.COM. Users should enter "anonymous" for the user name at the
log-in prompt and enter their full Internet electronic mail address for
the password. Compaq's WorldWide Web server can be accessed through the
Uniform Resource Locator (URL): HTTP://WWW.COMPAQ.COM.

In addition to Compaq Support on the Internet, Compaq customers can access
Compaq technical support and product and service information through
America Online, CompuServe and Prodigy.
