Ventana Releases Updated Membership Kit for America Online's New Multimedia
Interface

Chapel Hill, NC and Vienna, VA; October 17, 1994--Ventana Media announces
Version 2.5 for Mac and Version 2.0 for Windows of its Official America
Online Membership Kits, providing product presence for America Online in
the software retail channel. The Kits are distributed exclusively via
Ingram Micro, and contain software for AOL's new Multimedia User Interface
(MUI) and a 500-page Tour Guide valued at $19.95. Kit purchasers new to
AOL also receive 20 hours of free online time.

America Online's Multimedia User Interface seamlessly integrates photos,
graphics, text and sound. Mirroring America Online's user-friendly
interface, the Kit's Tour Guide, by Tom Lichty, reads more like a
travelogue than official documentation. Thoroughly covering the MUI and
AOL's Internet access, it features technical tips and time-saving
shortcuts; and an in-depth tour of popular AOL services including news and
weather, stock quotes, educational areas, chat rooms, software support and
online publications.

Passing the one million subscriber mark this summer, America Online's
popularity continues to soar, as documented by emerging victorious in
PC/Computing magazine's "Face-off" against other leading online services.
"Logical organization, elegant design, and intelligent use of icons and
other navigational techniques made America Online a winner" (PC/Computing
magazine, September 1994).

"We continue to increase the visibility and availability of America Online
with direct marketing programs, OEM bundling, software trials, media
partnerships and The Official America Online Membership Kit," said Steve
Case, President and CEO of America Online.

The Official America Online for Macintosh Membership Kit and The Official
America Online for Windows Membership Kit are distributed exclusively
through Ingram Micro. The Macintosh version is part number 334605. The
Windows version is part number 334604. The suggested retail price for each
Kit is $34.95.
