Networked E-mail and News for Business Applications

October 13, 1994 (Waterloo, ON) - Mortice Kern Systems announces the Novell
NetWare version of MKS Internet Anywhere. This version allows users on a
Novell NetWare LAN to read and send electronic mail and Usenet news over
the Internet from their workstations on the network.

The network administrator sets up an Internet Communications Server (ICS)
to interact with an Internet Access Provider--much like the Personal
version of MKS Internet Anywhere--to transfer Internet news and mail
between the local area network and the Internet. The ICS performs all the
transactions with the Internet, placing the incoming news and mail on the
NetWare server and sending any outgoing news and mail to the Internet. The
NetWare server stores all of the news and mail, which users access from
their workstations.

Because the transfer mechanism is UUCP, a non-interactive protocol, the LAN
is protected from sabotage by outside users and costly TCP/IP firewalls
are unnecessary. In addition, users' confidential mail folders are secure
because MKS Internet Anywhere fully utilizes NetWare's security features.

The product is accompanied by an online geographical listing of Access
Providers. Since MKS Internet Anywhere is non-proprietary, the network
administrator has a choice as to who they go to for the UUCP connection.

Availability

The NetWare version of MKS Internet Anywhere will be shipping in November.
The suggested retail price for a 5 user pack which includes the Internet
Communications Server, is US$645--a price of only $129 per seat.
