About Software Corporation's 5PM Product Family Supports Novell's NetWare
for LAT

-Users of the 5PM product line can now access applications on Digital VAXes
and Alpha workstations from PCs via NetWare for LAT-

CUPERTINO, CA, October 10, 1994--In a move aimed at simplifying desktop
connectivity issues, About Software Corporation, a leading provider of
terminal emulation and client/server development tools, today announced
support for Novell Inc.'s NetWare for LAT, a NetWare-to-DEC host
connectivity product. Together, About Software's 5PM products and Novell's
NetWare for LAT allow Macintosh and Windows users to easily access
applications running on Digital VAXes and Alpha workstations without the
installation of a LAT protocol stack on the desktop. As a result, systems
administrators have fewer protocols to administer; end users save memory
on their PCs; and organizations leverage their existing hardware and
software investments.

"By supporting NetWare for LAT, About Software is demonstrating its
commitment to simplifying connectivity issues for both end users and
network managers," said Killko Caballero, president and chief executive
officer, About Software Corporation. "We have offered direct LAT and
TCP/IP connectivity for VT420 users from the beginning. Providing support
through NetWare is a logical extension to our product line. Organizations
will now be able to standardize their Windows-to-VAX and Macintosh-to-VAX
communications using 5PM Term, NetWare for LAT and the TCP/IP protocol."

"We are pleased About Software Corporation will now support NetWare for LAT
in its 5PM product family," said Mike Ober, product line manager, Host
Connectivity Products at Novell, Inc. "We believe the TCP/IP connectivity
to NetWare for LAT provided by About Software's products will be of
particular interest to our customers."

5PM Term is a full-functioned terminal emulation solution. 5PM Pro is a
development environment for creating custom user interfaces. On Macintosh,
5PM Term and 5PM Pro support connections to the NetWare for LAT server
over TCP/IP and AppleTalk protocols. On Microsoft Windows, 5PM Term and
5PM Pro will support connections over TCP/IP and IPX protocols. The TCP/IP
support provides a PC with TCP socket connections into the NetWare for LAT
server, allowing organizations to run connections across LANs, WANs and
the Internet. NetWare for LAT can be installed on a NetWare 3.x or 4.x
server, and can run either on an existing NetWare server alongside other
NetWare services and applications, or on a dedicated server running
NetWare Runtime.

Availability

5PM support for NetWare for LAT on Macintosh is available now. Windows
support will be available in January. Pricing starts at $249.
