U.S. ROBOTICS BRINGS ANALOG EXPERTISE, MARKET LEADERSHIP TO ISDN ARENA

Multiple ISDN Products to Ship Over Next Several Months; First Product
Available in July

SKOKIE, Ill., -- June 12, 1995 -- Addressing growing customer needs and
international demand for ISDN-based products, U.S. Robotics (NASDAQ: USRX)
today announced a comprehensive ISDN strategy. The company will roll out a
variety of products over the next several months in both North American
and European markets. All ISDN products will be designed to satisfy the
demands of a global marketplace, reaching international customers through
U. S. Robotics' worldwide operations.

Central Site, Branch Office and Client Products Meet Variety of Needs

U.S. Robotics' array of products provide end-to-end solutions, and are
designed to satisfy the needs of a wide variety of customers, including
individuals, corporations, telcos and service providers. Key applications
for the products include telecommuting, branch office connectivity remote
access, and point of presence applications for online services, Internet
service providers and value added networks with high-bandwidth data
transmission needs. Initial ISDN products will be sold under the company's
Courier and Total Control brand names.

"ISDN is a natural extension of our core technology," said Ross Manire,
U.S. Robotics senior vice president and general manager, Corporate/Systems
Division. "As the leader in analog dial-up connectivity, it's a natural
step for us to add ISDN capabilities and provide our customers flexible,
high-bandwidth solutions that handle all of their communications needs."

"Two-in-One" Approach Eases Gradual Transition to ISDN

Analog applications dominate the communications market, with demand for
higher bandwidth driving the gradual implementation of ISDN. However, ISDN
terminal adapters don't provide compatibility with the installed base of
analog devices. Because of the need for both technologies, the company is
adopting a "two-in-one" approach: all new ISDN products will include both
analog and ISDN capabilities, allowing customers to take advantage of
ISDN's increased bandwidth while also providing access to the much larger
and still growing installed base of analog applications. The announcement
extends U.S. Robotics' strategy of providing multiprotocol, hybrid
products that fulfill a variety of communications needs.

U.S. Robotics' High-Eng Systems Provide Clear Migration Path to ISDN

Key to the company's strategy is the fact that its existing high-end
Enterprise Network Hub systems are easily upgradable to ISDN. The
Enterprise Network Hub is installed primarily in telcos, corporate data
centers and Internet service providers, who can simply add a new cart that
supports ISDN PRI (Primary Rate Interface) capabilities as their needs
evolve.

Road Map for ISDN Products

The company's first ISDN product, detailed in a separate release, is the
Courier I-Modem with ISDN/V.34, a combination terminal adapter/high-speed
modem. All of the company's products, whether designed for host sites or
individual users, will follow a similar path, providing hybrid
analog/digital solutions that allows a smooth transition from today's
predominantly analog environment to the emerging ISDN environment.

ISDN products available from U.S. Robotics will include:

* Courier I-Modem products (detailed in a separate release, available
  in July).
* Total Control NETServer eight- and sixteen-port remote access
servers with BRI (Basic Rate Interface) ISDN capabilities.
* Total Control eight-and sixteen-port modem pool products with BRI
  ISDN capabilities.
* PRI (Primary Rate Interface) ISDN capabilities for the Total Control
Enterprise Network Hub, which will accommodate 256 separate
channels of user traffic through multiple PRI lines.
