New Power Macintosh 9500 will allow Spyglass Plot and Spyglass Transform
users to virtually work in real-time

Naperville, Ill. June 9, 1995 -- Spyglass Inc. announced today that two
native Power Macintosh packages in its line of Visual Data Analysis tools
will support the Power Macintosh 9500. Spyglass Plot and Spyglass
Transform, which provide advanced visualization capabilities, are
optimized for the Power Macintosh 9500's powerful PowerPC 604 chip and PCI
architecture.

Spyglass Plot, the quickest tool for analyzing column data, was originally
released in a PowerPC version in January of 1995. Spyglass Plot is
optimized to easily read, manipulate and visualize extremely large
datasets -- up to 32,000 columns wide with the total amount of points
limited only by memory.

Spyglass Transform for the PowerPC, which was originally released m April
1995, allows scientists and engineers quickly and affordably analyze 2D
data and images. Transform can read in most 2D data formats and can, with
a single click, create raster images; line graphs; contour, surface or
vector plots; and overlays.

"Spyglass Plot and Transform follow the Spyglass standard of excellence by
combining powerful capabilities with an easy-to-use interface and an
affordable price," said Bob Rybicki, Spyglass' vice president of customer
service. "What's exciting is that the Power Macintosh 9500 will now give
users the capability to work virtually in real-time. "

Spyglass Plot and Transform can read many standard data formats including
HDF, HDF VSET, TIFF, PICT, GIF, MATLAB, FITS, spreadsheet, generic ASCII
and generic binary (byte, integer, floating point) data sets. All data is
displayed in an easy-to-read, spreadsheet-like window.

Users will also have explicit control over most operations with Spyglass'
powerful macro scripting language. With the macro language, it's easy to
automate repetitive tasks such as importing data and manipulating arrays,
creating plots, adding labels and exporting plots and data. With a single
click, users can automatically generate macros from existing plots and
apply those macros to other datasets for comparison.

In addition to being the leading developer of visual data analysis tools
for desktop platforms for the engineering/scientific marketplace, Spyglass
is the developer of Enhanced Mosaic, the open industry-standard access
software for electronic commerce on the World wide Web/Internet. Spyglass
also develops and distributes the Spyglass server, an open,
high-performance, World Wide Web server.

Other data analysis tools from Spyglass include a volumetric data analysis
tool, Spyglass Slicer for Windows and Spyglass Dicer for the Macintosh.
Also available are The Data Handbook: A Guide to Understanding the
Organization and Visualization of Technical data; and the Spyglass
Frontiers CD-ROM, a vast collection of stunning, scientific images.
Spyglass develops and distributes its products for Windows, Macintosh, and
X Windows systems. The company headquarters are located at 1230 East Diehl
Road, Naperville, Ill. 60563 (Telephone: 708.505.1010; fax: 708.505.4944;
