INDUSTRY'S SMALLEST AND MOST POWERFUL PC-BASED LAN SYSTEMS FROM S-MOS
SYSTEMS

High-Performance LANs In A Small Form Factor

NEW YORK, PC EXPO, June 20, 1995---S-MOS Systems is now offering a complete
PC-based LAN system that has full Ethernet capability and is driven by
S-MOS CARDIO (IBM PC card).

The S-MOS Ethernet System provides systems and network designers a
fully-functional and integrated LAN system, consisting of a standard
Ethernet board and driven by a full IBM PC AT card, either the CARDIO-86,
386 or 486.

Significant savings in overall system size are realized by S-MOS CARDIO
(which is literally the size of a credit card), and the Ethernet board
itself which is roughly half the size of a standard AT board (measuring
6.7" x 4.2").

Concerns regarding Ethernet-LAN compatibility and design-in are a non-issue
as the board conforms to industry-standard Ethernet design and can be
plugged into any passive backplane.

This full Ethernet system is targeted at remote network access, wireless
LANs, peer-to-peer networks, printer and file sharing, POS terminals,
credit-card verification systems, vending machines, automatic teller
machines (ATMs) as well as traditional and emerging LAN applications.

This product is part of the company's growing suite of PC cards and
subsystems, and further demonstrates the versatility of the S-MOS CARDIO
product line.

The S-MOS Ethernet board can be used with any CARDIO version (Chips and
Technologies' 8680, and Intel's 80386 or 80486), providing a wide range of
price/performance.

The board provides 10Base-5 or 10Base-T. The on-board LAN controller is a
NS DP83905 that is compatible with the NE2000+, and has 16 KB of static
RAM (SRAM) buffer space. The board has two serial I/O ports, one with
9-pin D-SUB socket, and the other with a pin header interface.

The board also offers a parallel I/O port for a printer plus a PS/2-type
keyboard. Other I/O includes an IDE-compatible hard disk drive, and
interfaces for a floppy disk drive and LCD.

The accompanying software includes a NDIS and ODI driver and LAN SET UP
utility.

S-MOS will provide the schematics of the Ethernet board in Orcad format for
customization purposes.

The Ethernet board is sampling now. Pricing is only $485. Volume quantities
are available in August. Pricing will be $275.

S-MOS CARDIO evaluation kits are available, ranging from $900 to $2,300,
depending on components (memory, hard and/or floppy disk drive, LCD panel,
etc.).

All pricing is dependent on memory and other system configuration
requirements.

S-MOS has a national distribution network with Nu Horizons Inc., of
Amityville, New York and with offices in San Jose, Calif., and the rest of
the country.

S-MOS CARDIO

S-MOS CARDIO is a fully-functional, IBM AT computer that is literally the
size of a credit card (versions include Intel 386 or 486SL, and Chips and
Technologies 8-bit 8680). Measuring about 3.4 inches by 2.2 inches, this
100-percent, IBM-compatible personal computer is targeted for any handheld
or personal/mobile computing, communications and instrumentation
applications.

S-MOS CARDIO is also suited for embedded systems such as factory
automation, point-of-sale systems, test and measurement equipment, set-top
boxes, global positioning systems and other intelligence devices.

S-MOS Systems, Inc., designs, develops and markets custom and semicustom
ICs, subsystems and card products, and a variety of standard ICs for
low-power applications in desktop and smaller computing systems and
PCI-bus. The company also provides contract manufacturing through
corporate affiliate, Seiko Epson Corporation. S-MOS was founded in 1983
and is privately held.
