UPGRADED PCMCIA MEMORY-CAPABLE PROJECTION PANEL ALLOWS HIGH COLOR
PRESENTATIONS WITHOUT COMPUTER

First Panel to Combine Memory, Auto-Playback, Mouse Control, Audio,
'Learning' Remote

NEW YORK, June 20, 1995 -- The industry's first stand-alone LCD projection
panel with built-in PCMCIA memory capability is available from Sharp
Electronics Corporation. The upgraded QA-1500B enables executives
on-the-go to give high-color presentations without a computer or other
input source on site.

The sleek and lightweight (5.5 lbs.) QA-1500B, has PCMCIA memory capability
that frees users from having to travel with a computer for presentations.
The panel is designed with an on-board slot for a 105 megabyte Type III
PCMCIA storage card. Each card stores up to 100 1.7-million-color computer
and still video images (or 200 images in 4,096 colors), all of which can
be easily sorted in up to five separate presentations. An Auto Save Mode
will automatically name, edit into a presentation and add a default effect
to each slide. Once stored in memory, executives can retrieve, sort and
delete these images, make "continuous play" self-running presentations
without a computer.

In addition, the QA-1500B can automatically number each slide and place it
into one of the five presentation folders. Automatic Playback mode permits
playback of any presentation on the PCMCIA card until stopped or paused.

The 1.7 million color QA-1500B is also the industry's first integrated
standalone multimedia projection panel to combine a built-in high-color
memory capability with a multi-featured learning' remote control, wireless
mouse control, built-in speaker and ultra-thin backlight option.

"The sophisticated features, capabilities and performance of the QA-1500B
make it prime for the rapidly emerging desktop production market," says
Ron Colgan, general manager, Sharp Professional LCD Products Division.
"The panel gives executives more control and flexibility over multimedia
presentations than ever before while simplifying use and freeing the
presenter from having to worry about the equipment."

Learning Remote

The QA-1500B has an "intelligent" wireless remote control with recognizable
icons. Presenters can now control the panel, video source and the computer
with a single remote for effortless multimedia presentations.

The QA-1500B remote is equipped with infrared learning' capability that
stores up to five functions from another remote control unit, such as a
VCR, laser disc or CD-I player remote. For infrared wireless control of a
computer mouse, the QA-1500B remote also has a "track-stick" -- a hybrid
of a trackball and joystick. The remote can also be programmed for
computer keyboard functions, such as "escape" or "program start/pause."

For additional flexibility, this compact backlit remote control also has
such functions as a pointer, image enlarge and freeze, volume adjustment
and switching between input sources, all at a touch of a button. Remote
control operations are confirmed with an on-screen menu, which also
simplifies set-up.

Data/Video Projection

The QA-1500B comes with a full complement of computer, video and audio
inputs and outputs, as well as a built-in loop-through for simultaneous
viewing of a projected image and local computer monitor.

The panel is compatible with virtually all popular personal computers,
including IBM-compatible PCs and Apple MacII/Quadra.

Rear-screen projection is available at the flip of a switch, as well as the
direct video input that connects the panel with a variety of video
sources, including VCRs, video disc players and live video cameras. The
panel is an international presentation tool, projecting NTSC/PAL/SECAM
video, complete with a universal power supply (100-240 Volt, 50/60 Hz).

Built-In Speaker/Audio Support

The QA-1500B incorporates a built-in speaker enabling audio for a computer
or video source to enhance multimedia presentations. Stereo audio line
output connectors support larger sound systems and audio levels may be
controlled from the remote.

Compact, Lightweight and with a Backlight Option

At only 5.5 pounds, the QA-1500B easily fits in an attache case and is a
perfect stand-alone portable presentation system. An ultra-thin and
lightweight (one lb.) backlight unit, QA-BL2, turns the QA-1500B into a
direct view desktop color monitor. The backlight unit eliminates the need
for an overhead projector for preparing and previewing programs, as well
as for making small group presentations.

Accessories

A full range of optional accessories includes: PCMCIA memory cards,
carrying bags and cases, screens and the QA-BL2 backlight unit.

Available now, the QA-1500B has a suggested list price of $4,695. The
QA-1500B is also available as a package with backlight (QA-1500BL) for a
suggested list price of $4,895. The QA-1500B is being marketed to
professional end-users for business, education and government presentation
needs.
