SHARP UPGRADES PORTABLE MULTIMEDIA LCD PROJECTOR

Brighter Than Ever XG-E650B Mark II's Lightweight Vertical Design Fits in
Airplane Overhead Compartments, Offers Worldwide Compatibility, Power Zoom
Lens

NEW YORK, June 20, 1995 -- Sharp Electronics Corporation offers the
XG-E660B Mark II, a portable LCD computer/video projector with
ultra-bright 160 ANSI lumen (600 lux) performance. Weighing 20 pounds and
not much larger than a briefcase, the new high-brightness projector is
among the most fully featured, highest performing projectors at its price
point. It is an all-in-one portable presentation solution for travelling
executives, field sales people, corporate trainers in a variety of
industries, as well as educators and government professionals.

The XG-E660B Mark II is the only projector in its class equipped with a
Power Zoom/Focus retractable lens for flexible image size. It also has
direct compatibility with virtually all popular PC and Macintosh
computers, has worldwide video source compatibility and a universal power
supply. A new high aperture ratio TFT LCD combined with a long-life
260-watt user replaceable metal halide lamp results in high-resolution,
bright images in more than 16 million colors.

Portable Design

Weighing 20 pounds and only a foot high and 16 inches long, the XG-E660B
Mark II is small enough to be stowed away in an airplane overhead bin or
underneath a seat, yet it is tall enough to project over chair tops when
placed on a meeting room table. A carrying handle and a storage
compartment for cables and accessories are built in for added
convenience.

Flexible Use

The XG-E650B Mark II is the first ultra-portable (20 lbs.) multimedia LCD
projector equipped with a Power Zoom/Focus lens capable of projecting
images from 30-inches (measured diagonally) to a full 150-inches in
tabletop or rear screen projection mode. The lens is retractable to
prevent damage during transportation and can be operated with a wireless
remote control.

The projector has horizontal scan frequency range of 16 to 40 kHz for use
with IBM compatibles, Apple Macintosh or Quadra computers, as well as
Centris Power PC and Powerbooks.

For easy operation around the world, the XG-E660B Mark II is equipped with
a multi-voltage power supply (110-120/220-240 volts AC, 60/60 Hz), as well
as composite video input for standard NTSC, PAL and SECAM sources. An
S-video input is also provided for additional flexibility.

Image Quality

To achieve its superior brightness, the XG-E650B Mark II incorporates a new
high aperture ratio 6.4 inch, 16 million color TFT active matrix LCD panel
with 307,200 pixels (each combining red, green, and blue elements) in an
inline stripe configuration. This new LCD allows 50% more light to pass
through the pixel opening resulting in brightness levels almost two times
the previous version. In addition, the in-line stripe configuration is
ideal for reproducing crisp data images with 640 x 480 dot resolution, or
line-doubled video images with a resolution of 500 TV lines.

The projector is equipped with a high brightness, 250-watt user replaceable
metal halide lamp. The advantage of the metal halide lamp is that it
offers an exceptionally long user life, and provides superior color
rendition without any "yellowish tint" as is common with halogen lamps.
The projector delivers exceptionally crisp and clear images with a high
contrast ratio of 100:1.

The XG-E650B Mark II incorporates one of Sharp's most advanced LCD
component breakthroughs, a 6.4-inch 16-million color TFT active matrix LCD
panel with 307,200 pixels (each combining red, green and blue elements) in
an in-line stripe configuration. The configuration is ideal for
reproducing crisp data images with 640 x 480 dot resolution, or
line-doubled video images with a resolution of 500 TV lines.

Additional Features

The XG-E650B Mark II is equipped with a wireless backlit remote control for
easy operation. With the remote control, users will be able to adjust
audio volume, lens, zoom and focus, switch between input sources and
perform other important adjustments. Operational controls are also built
into the projector itself. On-screen menu displays confirm remote control
operation and assist with set-up.

For multimedia presentations incorporating sound, a built-in five-watt
amplifier and speaker are provided. The unit also incorporates input
terminals for videoline audio, computer audio, multi-scan RGB and computer
monitor loop through line-output. A blue screen switch eliminates video
noise when no source is connected.

The XG-E650B Mark II has a suggested list price of $7,296. The new
projector is being marketed through Sharp's Professional LCD Products
authorized dealer network.
