NEW YORK, June 20, 1995 -- Sharp Electronics has begun shipping three
notebook computers featuring the latest high end features such as advanced
LCD, infrared and pointing device technology at an attainable consumer
price point that will also appeal to the value conscious corporate buyer.

The Sharp PC-3010, PC-3050 and PC-8800 include built-in infrared ports,
high-resolution color LCD screens, built-in sound, integrated
voice/data/fax modems and the GlidePoint pointing device.

According to Rob Rosborough, director of the Sharp Computer Products
Division, the new notebooks continue the Sharp tradition of delivering
value, capabilities and features that consumers demand.

"Sharp's experience with unique product offerings -- such as the Wizard and
Zaurus -- have allowed us to be the first to recognize and deliver on end
users' needs for easy and seamless interoperability between handhelds and
notebook devices," said Rosborough. "Our research from Sharp customers
shows that this is a need that has gone currently unfulfilled. Sharp is
pleased to be among the first to offer this capability, combining software
and hardware at an affordable price."

Advanced Features

Sharp was among the first manufacturers to incorporate infrared ports into
its notebooks, and all Sharp models incorporate this feature. The new
models support both IrDA and ASK standards, enabling the user to
wirelessly communicate with electronic organizers, PDAs, infrared-equipped
PCs and even infrared-equipped printers. Pre-installed software enables
the end user to easily take advantage of the wireless capabilities right
out of the box.

Intellilink Import/Export software facilitates communication between the
notebooks and handhelds such as Sharp Wizard electronic organizers and the
Zaurus K-PDA. Import/Export provides an easy to use and seamless software
interface between the handheld and the user's preferred PIM or Contact
Manager, such as Lotus Organizer and ACT! for Windows. This eliminates the
need to re-key appointments and contact data, ensuring that personal
information is always within reach, while allowing information on the
notebook computer and handheld to be synchronized.

"IntelliLink Corp. is very excited to be working with Sharp, a leader in
mobile products," said Keith Crozier, CEO, IntelliLink Corp. "Sharp's
leading-edge infrared connectivity eliminates the need for cumbersome
cables and allows the user greater flexibility in data transfer. These
notebooks are sure to be winners!

Puma TranXit, the leading software for IrDA-compliant wireless
communication, allows users to access any files or documents on another
computer. The software synchronizes data between two systems, ensuring
that all documents and files on both computers are up-to-date. These
functions can take advantage of wireless infrared connectivity, hard wire
connections using serial or parallel null-modem cables or remote modem
connectivity.

According to Bradley A. Rowe, President of Puma Technology, Inc., "We are
pleased that Sharp has decided to include TranXit, the industry standard
software for infrared wireless file transfers in their state-of-the-art
notebooks. Sharp has taken a leadership role by identifying the needs of
mobile office professionals and quickly responding with the technology to
meet those needs. The new Sharp notebooks address the need for busy mobile
professionals to quickly and easily communicate with other computers and
peripherals wirelessly."

All Sharp notebooks incorporate the GlidePoint pointing device. The
easy-to-use, maintenance-free trackpad offers a unique solution to past
pointing device problems. The only moving part is the end user's finger,
so the unit is impervious to dirt and dust. The only thing the end user
needs to learn is how to point his or her finger.

"We are pleased that Sharp, a manufacturer known for innovative technology,
has selected the award-winning GlidePoint for its notebook computers,"
said Jim O'Callaghan, co-founder of Cirque Corporation, the original
developer of trackpad technologies. "As the first x-86 based notebook
manufacturer to incorporate the trackpad, Sharp proves once again it has
the strength and vision of a true industry leader."

Unlike most competitive offerings, the PC-3050 incorporates a high-speed
14.4 Kbps voice/data/fax modem. The pre-installed modem and software
enable end users to bring the same powerful communications capabilities of
their office with them when traveling, without the need of an additional
purchase or time consuming installation. SuperVoice communications
software provides single and multiple mailbox voicemail, send/receive fax
and data communications capabilities. With CompuServe, America Online and
CheckFree also pre-installed, end-users are immediately able to access the
information superhighway.

The PC-8800 brings desktop SVGA (800 x 600) resolution to an affordable
price point in a notebook. The higher resolution of this LCD enables
end-users performing data intensive work to fit 56% more data on the
display without sacrificing legibility. The superior clarity and
resolution make it well-suited for presentations, graphics and
computer-aided design.

High-End Performance and Capabilities

The new Sharp notebooks offer high performance 486 DX2/66 (PC-3010, PC3050)
and i486 DX4/75 (PC-8800) microprocessors. Operating at 3.3 volts, the
SL-enhanced processors provide superior performance without sacrificing
battery life.

Video performance is enhanced with 32-bit VESA local bus video with
graphics accelerators. A Simultaneous Display video mode enables the LCD
screen to be used with an external monitor, making it well-suited for
delivering presentations to large groups. In addition, Virtual Desktop
mode enables the user to simultaneously use the notebook with an external
monitor at a higher resolution, further facilitating group presentations.

For expansion, all Sharp PCs have two PC card slots. The PC-3010 and
PC-3050 even offer PC card slots large enough to accommodate one Type II
and one Type III PC card simultaneously. Sharp notebooks accept a wide
variety of PC cards, including fax/modems, hard disk drives, network
interface cards, SCSI cards, CD-ROM drive controllers, video input cards
and Global Positioning receivers.

An optional Mini-Dock for the PC-8800 provides a single, one-step
connection for all desktop peripherals. The Mini-Dock replicates the
PC-8800's ports, adding Type II and III PC card slots, a MIDI/game port
and a SCSI-2 port for external CD-ROM drives, scanners and other SCSI
devices.

As the worldwide leader in LCD technology and market share and a major
player in office equipment and consumer products, Sharp is well positioned
to take advantage of the booming retail notebook market.

"Sharp has strong brand name recognition and loyalty in consumer
electronics," said Rosborough. "This contributes to consumers feeling
comfortable with Sharp for technology products as well."

Street prices for the PC-3010, PC-3050 and PC-8800 are estimated to range
from $1,799 to $2,699; actual pricing is determined by resellers.
