SAMSUNG INTRODUCES HIGH-SPEED QWIKLASER PRINTERS WITH EIGHT PAGE-PER-MINUTE
OUTPUT AT 600 DPI

Laser Printers Offer Small Business and Home Professional Users the Best
Combination of Performance and Value

June 20, 1995 -- RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. -- Samsung Electronics America, Inc.
is introducing two, high-speed laser beam printing systems, the QwikLaser
Series (Models QL84 and QL85), which produce documents with true 600
dots-per-inch (DPI) resolution at a rate of eight pages-per-minute (PPM).

Samsung is unveiling the QwikLasers at Booth #4038 during PC EXPO in New
York, June 20-22. The QL84 and QL85 laser printers will start to ship in
September.

The compact QwikLasers take up just 14.2 x 13.6 inches on a desktop and
they stand just six inches tall. These high-performance units are powered
by Samsung's laser printer engine and they use PCLSe (QL85) and PCL4
(QL84) emulations as well as the Microsoft Windows Printing System. The
QwikLasers have a rapid 35-second warm-up time Auto Emulation Switching
(AES), a power management system that cuts energy usage and an efficient
one-piece cartridge with a Toner Saving Mode that prints more than 6,000
pages before it needs replacing.

D.K. Chung, Marketing Director of Samsung's Information Systems Division,
said, "With the introduction of the QwikLaser Series (Models QL84 and
QL85), Samsung is offering small business and home professional users the
best combination of performance and value in the laser printing market.
Samsung's QwikLasers run 50 to 100 percent faster than standard four and
six page-per-minute printers which cost about the same price.

"We're supporting the QwikLaser launch with a strong marketing effort that
targets the booming retail market for computer products. Samsung is
dedicated to producing laser printing systems that meet even the most
demanding users' needs. Our long-term goal is to become one of the top
five printer companies in the U.S."

The QwikLaser QL85 is powered by the MC68322 20MHz microprocessor and comes
with 2MB of standard RAM which is upgradeable to 32MB by installing memory
modules. The QL85 automatically switches between PCLSe emulation and the
Windows Printing System. It is compatible with just about any MS-DOS or
Windows application. Samsung has equipped the printer with 35 scalable
Intelligent fonts, 10 TrueType fonts and one Bitmap font.

The QL85 has a 150-sheet universal cassette with single sheet feed that
handles a wide range of paper stock sizes as well as envelopes. The QL85
and QL84 printers output 100 sheets of paper face down and single sheets
face up.

The QL84 uses the MC68322 16MHz processor and comes with 1.5MB of standard
RAM upgradeable to 32MB by installing additional memory modules. The Q84
automatically switches between the Windows Printing System and PCL4
emulations and is compatible with any PC software application. The printer
has seven Bitmap fonts in a variety sizes and weights. Paper handling is
via a 150-sheet universal cassette with single sheet feed that can easily
handle several types of paper (A4, letter, legal and envelopes).

Both the QL84 and QL85 have power management systems that reduce the
printers' energy consumption to 12 watts in the stand-by mode. This rating
conforms to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's "Energy Star"
standards.
