SAMSUNG'S FULLY-FEATURED SYNCMASTER 15GLe MONITOR DELIVERS GREATER QUALITY
AND VALUE

New 15-Inch Monitor Meets SOHO Market's Diverse Computing Needs

June 20, 1995 -- RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. -- Samsung Electronics America is
expanding its "e" Series line of monitors with the introduction of the
fully-featured SyncMaster 15GLe which delivers greater quality and value
than comparable display units.

This multi-platform 15-inch monitor's complete feature package includes
Plug and Play capability; digital, one-touch controls; power management
and emission control. Samsung is launching the monitor at PC EXPO (booth #
403g) and it will ship this summer.

This general purpose monitor is capable of producing images with a
resolution of 1024 x 768 @ 60Hz and 0.28mm dot pitch. The display unit is
backed by Samsung's three year CRT, parts and labor warranty.

According to John R. Grundy, Samsung's Senior Product Marketing Manager for
Monitors, "We engineered this 15-inch monitor for the wide range of
applications and tasks performed by people in small offices and home
offices. They want a fully-featured monitor that is easy to set up and
produces the maximum image quality. We've succeeded in producing a
versatile monitor that meets the needs of a very diverse market."

The 15GLe's Plug and Play capability conforms to the Video Electronics
Standards Association's (VESA) Display Data Channel (DDC) Type 2B
standard. DDC makes it easier to install the monitor and optimize its
performance when connected to the appropriate Plug and Play compatible
hardware and software. The 15GLe uses DDC to send information about its
current and maximum scan rates to the host PC. As the graphics card and
the monitor "communicate" with each other, the system will select the
monitor's optimum resolution and its highest possible refresh rate. When
the monitor is accurately configured with the graphics card it will
achieve its maximum performance capability.

To reduce the monitor's energy consumption, the 15GLe has a power
management system that meets the U.S. E.P.A's Energy Star guidelines and
NUTEK standards. The system cuts the monitor's energy usage by "powering
down" the unit when it is standing idle. The monitor also complies with
the MPR II standard for emissions control.
