BUILT-IN STEREOPHONIC SPEAKERS AND MICROPHONE DISTINGUISH NEW PANAMEDIA
MULTIMEDIA MONITORS

New York, NY June 20, 1995 -- Panasonic Communications & Systems Company
(PCSC), a division of Matsushita Electric Corp. of America, will display
its PanaMedia line of multimedia monitors, featuring Panasonic's
ultra-compact stereo Dome Speaker technology and a built-in microphone
integrated into the chassis. The new PanaMedia monitors are on display at
Booth #3160.

"As multimedia moves into the mainstream, monitors are becoming the focus
of the home PC entertainment center," said Timothy J. Curran, vice
president and group general manager of the Computer Products Group. "Our
new PanaMedia line has the decided advantage of being able to utilize our
video and audio technologies to produce not only outstanding monitors at
competitive prices but multimedia monitors with an aesthetic form factor
that take up about the same amount of space as conventional monitors. "

Unlike conventional monitors that do not project sound forward, the
PanaMedia Dome Speaker technology incorporates the speaker into the design
of the monitor cabinet, producing sound directed to the front of the
monitor through acoustic ducts and projected through micro-hole speaker
grilles.

Because the sound is projected very close to the CRT, localization of the
sound image is enhanced. Panasonic achieved this by producing acoustically
absorbent horns to eliminate the resonance and by developing reflectors
and high-efficiency speaker units to prevent reduction in the sound
pressure. The outcome is an outstanding stereophonic image with superb
presence and crisp digital sound reproduction without any sacrifice in
space; in fact, the speakers add a mere 1/4 inch to each side of the
PanaMedia

The built-in high-sensitivity unidirectional microphone, located in the
center of the lower chassis, is ideal for voice-activated software, video
teleconferencing and other audio recording devices without occupying
additional desk space. On the left side of the monitor are two jacks for
optional headphones and an additional microphone input for optional
expansibility.

PanaMedia 17 and PanaMedia 15 are ideal for training, educational, home
multimedia applications and video teleconferencing. With a 0.27mm dot
pitch, 1,280 x 1,024 resolution with up to 69 kHz horizontal scan
frequency and flat square CRT, the two multimedia monitors feature a
sharp, full-screen image. Panasonic's proprietary AGRAS coating reduces
static electricity, screen glare and reflection for easier viewing.

The systems' intuitive icon-based On-Screen Display menu allows users to
digitally customize the size, geometry and color of the picture in five
different languages, utilizing the PanaPerfect control system. Languages
include German, Italian, French, Spanish and English. The
specially-designed PanaColor color control system allows users to not only
adjust the monitor's red and blue color guns individually and according to
preference but to access and store up to two industry-standard color
temperature settings. The fine image quality is the result of an 86 MHz
bandwidth and a wide range of video scanning frequencies from 30-69 kHz
(horizontal) and 50-160 Hz (vertical).

PanaMedia 17 and PanaMedia 15 conform to VGA, SVGA, XGA and MAC standards,
VESA (Video Electronics Standard Association) Display Power Management
Signalling and the EPA's Energy Star guidelines, designed to reduce
unnecessary power consumption. Both monitors are MPR-II compliant. A
self-test display automatically verifies monitor functionality, and the
display frequency menu identifies the video mode. In addition, the
PanaMedia 17 is Plug & Play, DDC 1/2B compatible that uses the VESA DDC
(Data Display Channel) standard. This allows the PanaMedia 17 to inform a
compatible host of its capabilities which meet the Microsoft/Intel Plug
and Play Definition used by Windows 95.

PanaMedia 17 and PanaMedia 15 carry a one-year limited parts and labor
warranty and a three-year CRT warranty with a special monitor swap
program. Users are entitled to a replacement monitor within 48 hours if an
engineer at the 1-800-PANASYS hotline number determines that a problem
exists.

PanaMedia 17 is 17.2" W x 16.7" H x 17.2" D with actual viewing dimensions
of 12.8" H x 9.6" V, 16.0" diagonal, and PanaMedia 15 is 14.7" W x 15.1" H
x 16.0" D with actual viewing dimensions of 11.2" H x 8.4" V, 14.0"
diagonal. The PanaMedia multimedia monitors are scheduled to ship in June
at suggested retail prices of $999 for PanaMedia 17 and $599 for PanaMedia
15.
