COMPUTER-TO-PLATE WITH APPLE PCI RIP

June 19, 1995 -- ICG introduced the Titan 582 B1-size Combination
Platesetter, its first computer to plate product at Drupa '95 in May at
Dusseldorf, Germany. The Titan 582 Combination Platesetter is a fully
automated, flatbed plate production line for the medium sized general
commercial printer. The Titan 582 exposes silver based or photopolymer
coated pre-sensitised aluminum plates up to B1 size. In addition, exposure
onto film of 8 page impositions is possible with the automatic film
handling option.

The launch of a computer to plate product is a major diversification for
ICG, Sales Director Terry Lockwood explains: "The anticipated future
growth in the computer to plate market provided a strategic opportunity
for ICG to apply its considerable development and precision manufacturing
skills. Our well established relationship with Apple has allowed us to
quickly develop the new technology solution for a new market need" .

The Titan 582 has been developed by a multi-disciplinary project team,
taking full account of market demands, future upgrade potential, quality,
and reliability. Market research in the medium sized commercial print
sector clearly indicated that the main requirements for CTP are ease of
data handling, multi format flexibility, and reliability. "We felt that
the Apple PCI PowerMac was the best solution to meet these market
demands", says Dr. Gordon Temple, managing director.

PostScript Interface

The all important Apple PCI Macintosh system that drives the Titan 582
comprises industry standard PostScript Level 2 RIP software and hardware
components. The Titan 582 is operated from a dedicated Macintosh
workstation where the operator can verify job data on screen. The system
can be configured to address printers' essential requirements, such as
proofing, imposition, integrity between proof and plate, job tracking, and
archiving of large files. An additional Apple PowerMac-based ImageGate RIP
can be added for improved productivity.

The imaging table has been designed to support additional functions, such
as digital proofing. ICG is presenting the most appropriate and accurate
proofing options for this system, including another module driven by Apple
PCI Macintosh, ICG's Proteus 680 B1 monochrome proofer for checking of
final geometry on large signatures.

Available as a result of developments with third party alliances is also
ICG's WorkFlo System for job tracking and management with intuitive OPI
capability.

Availability and Distribution

The Titan 582 Combination Platesetter will be available via selected major
ICG dealers and agents. Additional agents able to deliver the right level
of customer support for this innovative pressroom product are being sought
worldwide.

"We see the Apple PCI-based Titan 582 as the basis of very close
partnerships between ICG, Apple, and a number of strong International
pre-press suppliers", says Terry Lockwood, Sales Director at ICG, "and
this launch is the ideal place for these relationships to start".
