Great Plains Software Offers Dynamics C/S+ on the Microsoft BackOffice
Platform

New York, June 20, 1995 -- Great Plains Software announced today it will
collaborate with Microsoft Corp. to deliver Dynamics C/S+, its three-tier
client/server financial management application, for use with Microsoft
BackOffice. This will allow Great Plains to work closely with dedicated
resources from Microsoft to provide a more fully integrated, high-quality
client/server financial application based on the BackOffice platform.

"We're working with vertical ISVs like Great Plains who are focused on
creating the very best BackOffice applications for their customers," said
Rich Tong, general manager of the business systems division at Microsoft.
"Dynamics C/S+ is designed to take advantage of the key features and
functionality of BackOffice. This endeavor will provide customers with a
next generation client/server accounting solution based on Windows NT
Server."

"This is one more example of efforts between Great Plains Software and
Microsoft to provide customers with compelling business applications on
the latest platforms," said Jennifer Bourgoin, director of Alliance
Marketing, Great Plains Software. "Being among the first ISVs to work with
Microsoft solidifies Great Plains' commitment to Microsoft technologies
and makes Dynamics C/S+ an obvious financial management choice for
BackOffice customers."

Tight integration between Dynamics C/S+ and BackOffice provides customers
with streamlined systems management and enhanced reliability. Great Plains
Software's development efforts are focused on delivering an open suite of
client/server financial applications for the BackOffice platform.
Highlights of Dynamics C/S+ on Microsoft BackOffice include:

* A 32-bit application, Dynamics C/S+ supports Windows NT 3.5 Workstation
and Server operating systems on both Intel and Alpha platforms. This
32-bit application design takes full advantage of both the distributed
processing capabilities and stable, mission-critical environment provided
with the Windows NT platform.

* Dynamics C/S+ utilizes the advanced database functionality specific to
SQL Server 6.0, giving customers greater access to critical financial data
with enhanced data integrity, increased performance and ease of systems
management.

* Dynamics C/S+ scalable, three-tier client/server architecture supports
distributed computing, allowing a single user to leverage the computing
power of many networked computers. Routine tasks such as data entry can be
completed on a local machine while simultaneously generating reports and
other tasks on an entire network of machines.

* Support for the Windows NT environment accents integration with products
such as Microsoft Office and other desktop applications through Dynamic
Data Exchange (DDE), creating an open, flexible environment. Furthermore,
the ODBC connectivity supplied by SQL Server 6.0 and BackOffice allows
hundreds of applications open access to data.

* Dynamics C/S+ integrates seamlessly with the Microsoft Mail BackOffice
component using Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI). This
allows Dynamics C/S+ users to mail reports via Microsoft Mail.

* Dynamics C/S+ support of RISC platforms for BackOffice provides customers
with a choice of RISC platforms, faster processing, and increased
scalability as business needs change.

* Utilization of the Performance Monitor tool within Windows NT provides
the ability to monitor different components of an entire system and
graphically measure performance of one computer or several computers on a
network. For example, an organization can utilize performance monitors to
tune database performance or to search for network bottlenecks.

Dynamics C/S+ is designed for businesses downsizing from mainframes,
replacing minicomputers or upsizing from LAN systems to client/server
configurations. Dynamics C/S+ supports the entire family of Microsoft
Windows desktop environments, as well as Macintosh and Power Macintosh
clients. In addition, Dynamics C/S+ supports UNIX as a server platform.

Great Plains Software develops, markets, and supports accounting and
financial management software worldwide. The company offers solutions
ranging from corporate client/server systems to small business integrated
accounting software. Great Plains was founded in 1981 and is privately
