EIS Announces PCI Card for New Power Macintosh 9500

Moorpark, CA, April 19, 1995 - Electronic Imaging Systems, Inc. (EIS)
announced today the unveiling of its ColorQuick PCI (Peripheral Component
Interconnect) card, supporting all existing EIS scanner and RIP
interfaces. As a leader in interfacing traditional pre-press drum
scanner/recorders to electronic desktop publishing equipment, EIS has
closely followed the development of Apple's Newly announced Power
Macintosh 9500 computer, ensuring compatibility between both products. The
unprecedented power of the Apple PCI computer, when coupled with the
multitasking capabilities of the EIS interface and RIP, will offer a new
level of performance to pre-press customers.

Using EIS's ColorQuick product, a continuous tone interface linking your
high-end drum scanner directly to the Macintosh, users are able to scan
and record to any Macintosh compatible volume, including local hard disks,
data shuttles, optical drives or even servers. ColorQuick supports CMYK,
RGB and single color TIFF, Scitex CT and PSImage, and DCS image formats.

Other unique features of the ColorQuick interface are automatic setup of
the scanner through remote keyboard emulation or RS-232 data terminal
emulation, and direct recording with single pass four color scanning
straight to and from the disk or Macintosh network.

The ColorQuickRIP interface, the next revolutionary product to come from
the EIS engineering team, is an industry innovation making it possible to
use the large record drum capability of your scanner to make PostScript
images for a fraction of the cost of a conventional imagesetter. The
uniqueness of the ColorQuickRIP centers around the hardware and software
design by EIS. A Harlequin PostScript compatible rip is used to convert
PostScript from a variety of popular applications. The resulting raster
files are then processed by the ColorQuickRIP and used to mark film using
all laser output fibers simultaneously.

The ColorQuick and ColorQuickRIP interfaces are available for Hell and
Dainippon Screen scanners and are designed, manufactured and marketed by
EIS. Products are available both domestically and internationally through
a network of authorized distributors. For more information on products,
