DURACOM ANNOUNCES DUAL PROCESSOR FILE SERVER

Motherboard design offers high performance at multiple price and
performance levels

NEW YORK (PC EXPO - June 20, 1995) -- DURACOM Computer Systems announces
the release of the new FilePro DP-1000 file server offering support for
dual Intel Pentium processors at speeds up to 120 MHz. Providing faster
processing capabilities, the DP-1000 has advanced network features such as
failure detectors and security options, in addition to a built-in graphics
controller.

"By offering dual processor capabilities, the DP-1000 clearly meets the
needs of the expanding server marketplace," said Tom Dodson, president,
DURACOM Computer Systems.

DURACOM's file server uses the Intel Neptune chipset and also supports the
PCI Local Bus architecture which further increases system speed and
performance. The DP1000 has up to 256MB of standard memory and a cache
memory ranging from 256KB to 512KB, supporting both asynchronous or burst
synchronous cache. In addition, the motherboard supports the 75 MHz, 90
MHz, 100 MHz or 120 MHz Intel Pentium processors in single or dual
processor mode.

The DP-1000 allows for growth through a number of expansion slots. It
houses two 32-bit PCI slots, five 32-bit EISA slots and one shared
PCI/EISA. In addition, it is equipped with a Super I/O (Input/Output)
interface and two high-speed 16550 compatible serial ports. The built-in
Enhanced IDE interface, will support two hard disks as well as two floppy
drives up to 2.88MB. The platform also integrates an Adaptec fast, wide
SCSI controller which provides PCI capabilities.

The DURACOM system is equipped with several unique network management
utilities. Numerous security, reliability and management features have
been incorporated into the server design including: management interrupt,
critical logging and an Intel flash memory device which allows the system
BIOS to be easily upgraded. The DP-1000 has a failure detection feature
which notifies of voltage variation, thermal conditions, and fan failure,
along with a cooling system providing one chassis fan and a processor fan.
It also has chassis intrusion and video blanking password protection.

The high-performance features of DURACOM's new FilePro DP-1000 will be
exhibited during PC EXPO in New York on June 20-22 and it will be
available for purchase in July 1995.

Established in 1989, DURACOM Computer Systems sells custom configured
computer systems through its nationwide network of value added resellers
(VARs) and dealers. DURACOM employs more than 80 people in its corporate
headquarters in Irving, Texas, and its manufacturing facility in Fremont,
Calif
