DDA Shows PhoneDisc Designed for Pre-Release Windows 95

May 17, 1995, Bethesda, MD -- Digital Directory Assistance, Inc. announced
the new version of its PhoneDisc 95 telephone directories designed for the
pre-release version of Microsoft's Windows 95 operating system. The
company also announced that PhoneDisc has passed testing to be approved by
Microsoft to include the coveted "Designed for Microsoft Windows 95" logo.
The Windows 95 Logo program was implemented by Microsoft to ensure that
end users could easily identify software applications that have been
specifically designed to take full advantage of the exciting new
capabilities of Windows 95. These new capabilities include:

Drag and Drop: This feature antiquates the old cut and paste transfer of
information between applications by allowing users to simply drag selected
telephone listing information from PhoneDisc and drop it into other
applications.

32 Bit Code: PhoneDisc is 100% 32 bit code, finally tapping the full
potential of 386, 486 and Pentium processors.

Plug and Play: This feature allows hot connecting and disconnecting of
CD-ROM and network drives while PhoneDisc is running. PhoneDisc will
automatically dynamically include or delete the drives in its database
selection dialog as they come and go. PhoneDisc will also automatically
adjust itself to changes in screen resolution when docking and undocking
laptops.

New Look: The sleek new Windows 95 three-dimensional look is used
throughout the new PhoneDisc software.

Long File Names: The days of cryptic eight character file names are over.
Names and addresses exported in PhoneDisc's various formats can include
long descriptive names like "Dentists in San Jose"

Context Item Help: The right mouse button can be used to obtain context
sensitive popup descriptions of the various buttons, controls and other
items in Dialog Boxes.

File Icons and File/Application Links: PhoneDisc database files are listed
in Windows 95 using their own unique icon. Double clicking a PhoneDisc
database icon will automatically start the PhoneDisc software.

Uninstall: This is a required feature for all Designed for Windows 95
products, finally making it easy for users and corporate managers to
easily remove older or unneeded software from computers.

Due to overwhelming requests by Windows 95 beta testers, Digital Directory
Assistance, Inc. has decided to make the pre-release version of its
software available free to registered PhoneDisc users via Compuserve (GO
DDAPHONE). "There seems to be a real hunger out there from the beta sites
for Designed for Windows 95 apps" said DDA chairman Claude Schoch, "This
will allow Windows 95 beta sites using PhoneDisc to experience first-hand
the unique benefits of Windows 95." Users who download the prerelease
PhoneDisc software for Windows 95 must agree to update to the final
version (again free) when the final release version of Windows 95 ships.
