CONNER ANNOUNCES HARDWARE RAID SUPPORT FOR OS/2 WARP, LAN SERVER AND SCO
UNIX

Conner extends high-performance RAID storage capabilities across multiple
operating

Lake Mary, Fla., May 8, 1995-- Conner Storage Systems, a division of Conner
Peripherals, Inc. (NYSE:CNR), today announced that its hardware-based
CR12-RAID and CR6-RAID subsystems fully support the IBM OS/2 Warp, IBM
OS/2 LAN Server 3.0 and SCO UNIX 3.2.4.2 operating systems. Adding these
network operating systems to existing support by Conner RAID subsystems
for Novell NetWare and Microsoft Windows NT means that business and
government organizations can deploy high-capacity storage systems that
maintain data availability and integrity across heterogeneous, enterprise
network environments.

The storage capacity for the CR12-RAID and CR6-RAID product family ranges
from 4 gigabytes (GB) to 24GB. Both products include a dedicated RISC
microprocessor, residing on either a PCI or EISA SCSI-2 disk array
controller. The controllers use a dedicated RISC microprocessor for
control of the subsystem and off-load RAID algorithms from the network
operating system, boosting performance. The Conner CR12-RAID and CR6-RAID
subsystems are available now through resellers and distributors with
suggested list prices ranging from $8,995 to $29,995.

"Today's corporate environments are often a mix of multiple network systems
dispersed among various departments, creating data availability and
integrity issues as users manage and share information outside their
workgroup settings," said Joel Reich, director of marketing, Conner
Storage Systems.

"By supporting a wide range of popular network operating systems, Conner
hardware RAID systems enable companies to efficiently store and protect
mission-critical data across the enterprise, ensuring data assets are
available when needed," Reich said.

Support for the OS/2 and SCO UNIX operating systems include device drivers
and server-based utilities that provide disk drive status and
configuration operations right at the server. Drive status is reported to
the OS/2 or SCO UNIX system on which the Conner RAID subsystems are
installed.

Designed to deliver maximum performance, availability, data security,
scalability and flexibilities to PC LAN Storage, Conner's scalable RAID
systems offer hardware redundancy for superior fault tolerance and support
for RAID levels 0,1, and 5 configurations. The CR12-RAID and CR6-RAID
subsystems include hot-swappable Conner 3.5-inch, one-inch high SCSI 1 GB
or 2GB hard disk drives.

Other fault-tolerant features for the CR12-RAID and CR6-RAID subsystems
include a configurable on-line hot spare drive, redundant power supplies
and redundant cooling fans. LEDs indicate the status of the hard disk
drives, power supplies and fans. An audible alarm will alert the
administrator in the event of a failure of any of these components. The
Conner CR12-RAID includes an LCD control panel for status and temperature
monitoring information.

The PCI-based Conner RAID products transfer data over a FAST/WIDE SCSI-2
interface at a rate of 20 MB/second and have an average seek time of 9
milliseconds. With an average Mean Time Between Data Loss rating in excess
of five million hours, the Conner CR12-RAID and CR6-RAID systems are among
the most reliable in their class.

Continuing Conner Storage Systems' tradition of service and support, the
Conner RAID product family is backed by trained customer support
specialists and rapid turnaround on product repairs under warranty. All
Conner RAID systems offer a five-year warranty.

Based in Lake Mary, Fla., Conner Storage Systems offers a complete line of
hardware and software RAID products for a variety of operating systems.
The group sells products through a worldwide network of dealers,
distributors and value-added resellers.

Founded in 1986, Conner sells, designs and builds a comprehensive line of
information storage solutions products, including disk drives, tape
drives, storage management software and disk array storage systems, for a
wide range of computer applications. Conner had 1994 sales of $2.4
billion.
